BBC local news just had a feature, keypoint of which are:

4 mobile vans on A11 in Norfolk... serious injuries fallen by 64% at camera sites in 1 year.

Haughly bends on A14 Suffolk - accidents halved since cameras introduced 3 years ago.

Then Tame Plod came on and got the 'speeding as socially unacceptable as drink driving' bit in. However, he said 'We often see casualty reductions at camera sites' - meaning that at many sites they don't!

Paul Smith provides an excellent template letter to challenge these dubious claims.

every time they put out statistics for the A140 they quote a time frame of 21 years (i'm sure it was 20 years last year) i thought they were supposed to use 5 years to justify their actions? anyone khow what happened that long ago.
A11 accidents down - nothing to do with the nice new duel carrigeway then.
Haughly bends - cross roads over main trunk road with blind off camber bend just before - that'll be why they still have road blocking accidebts there then!

suffolk road safety makes me fume!!
