Playstation 3... WTF????
Discussion
HELP!
I am simply trying to get us a PS3, as my DVD player has gone kaput and PS2 looking old.....
But I am buggered if I can work out what is the current model and where best to get one. Sony Website is Webs
te. I just assumed they were the 40GB ones like in Argos, looked on the net and found 60GB ones which can play PS2 games ( handy as PS2 will now be going in the car) , then found they are no longer for sale in the UK, then found there are 80GB ones, BUT in the smallprint they are not UK models ????? Then gave up.
Are there any PS3 experts on here who can point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Sorry for going off topic straight away, but why do people put games consoles in cars? Seems really odd to me, why not go indoors and play games in your living room sitting on a nice comy sofa?
That bit grabbed me too.
OP, do you also have an armchair and a 42" plasma in the car as well??
Oh dear, I have just discovered the XBOX 360 Elite. Seems even better.
BTW I have a Playstation and DVD in the car as it keeps my 6 year old girl quiet and entertained on long journeys. Like across half of France without a whisper. Only a parent can relate to that! Personally, I have never played the console in the car, but passengers haveon long journeys. Do not really play games in the home either to be honest.

They are different.
Better in that I could plainly see which one XBOX buy!!! I really just need a new DVD player, but an excuse for hard-drive music storage and better gaming seems better a choice than just a straight DVD player. I am the sort of person who would rather be out driving real cars than aimlessly tuning up cartoons on Gran Tourismo, but it is nice to have a console if mates come round. I suppose its 6 of one and 6 of the other? XBOX Elite seems to have 120GB versus Playstation 40GB. Thats winning it so far.

Add on HDD?80gig versions were the first out, had all the bells and whistle's, thought to be too expensive. Then came 60's, slightly dumbed down ie less ports and stuff but still backwards compatible and slightly cheaper, lastly came 40's, cheapest yet but even less ports and completely not backwards compatible. Anyway, like said, you can always buy another hard drive, I think they're 3.5" same as lap tops, could be wrong though.
Depends on your requirements though.
Cheap Blue-Ray player
or
Entertainment hub/BR player
or
Games console with added extra's

Your girl will grow up to be very grateful of this fact. Nothing more boring or stressful than being in a car on a long journey and not being the driver.BTW I have a Playstation and DVD in the car as it keeps my 6 year old girl quiet and entertained on long journeys. ETA: Get an Xbox 360.

The 80gb ones came out in the US, we got the 60gb from the off which were the top spec available here, late last year they took the 60gb off the market, stripped out the PS2 compatibility, a couple of USB ports and the memory card reader, now the 40gb is the only one you can buy.Depends on your requirements though.

Add on HDD?I believe that you can change the hard disk in the Ps3 yourself. Apparently even explains in manual how to do it.
Haven't got one to check this out myself though.
