I need some inputs here.

Imported the cerbera to sweden 1 week ago, alls well until the other day.
On idle <1000 rpm no problem 1000-6000 rpm standstill no problem but accelerating in all gears around 3000 rpm it sounds like a machinegun. Consumes to much fuel and the car smells fuel. Performance is not good either. When i start up i have the MIL lamp on for a few secs.

Odd bank spark plugs blac and oily Even bank spark plugs vhite and clean.

I cleaned them an put them in, if i hold my hand at idle i can feel a more even ignition flow from the even banks exhaust pipe. From the odd bank exhaust it has less flow and more uneven like the ignition fails now and then.

What else to check? How can i get prognosis tool and software to my laptop? (fault codes check)
How does the throttle pots work?
Lamda problems?
Coil problem? (plugs and leads are new, but i guess looking in the history similar problems has occured?
Where can i get a TVR Cebera manual?

Thanks

Sounds like a coil pack gone bad.

"oily" sounds like a strange symptom for a coil pack but I hope you're right as the other possibilities could get expensive. A compression test might be a good idea as a set of plugs might mask an oil control problem for a few days but it will return if what's on the plugs is oil.

Plug lead arcing

Coil Pack faulty

Throttle Pots

Only other time I've had a machine gun type noise under acceleration is when the manifold cracked.

Does your car still have the catalysts fitted?

. . . had exactly the same symtoms on acceleration and it was a faulty coil pack. These were also replicated with a loose HT lead. The leads can be difficult to seat properly onto the plugs and sometimes have a tendency to pop off if there not quite home . . . hope its a lead because the coil packs are a p.i.t.a. to change biggrin

thanks, i will start with leads and move on. What worries me is that the other day the temp gauge jumped up and down for a while....cracked manifold i do not need. How can best find this out? Water level would drop i guess

The temp gauge is a mechanical capillary type so not affected by electrical issues. If the temp gauge is 'jumping' around it is usually some air in the cooling system, so if you bleed it this problem should be solved (assuming the headgaskets are ok).

A cracked (exhaust) manifold would not cause the water level to drop but can cause 'bad' running. Not sure how to check for a cracked manifold, it is quite difficult to see the manifolds during normal operation unless you are underneath the car.

Most likely an air lock in the system (tadts biggrin) bleed via the valve on the rad top. biggrin
