Coming back from the IoM trip last night, needed some fuel to get me home. Pulled in to the Oxford services on the M40, found the petrol station (hoping for Shell) to find its a BP one... "uh oh, this is going to be pricey" I thinks to myself....

ONE POUND, TWENTY-SIX point NINE pence a feckin litre for Ultimate! yikes

My only consolation was that the Ultimate Diesel was even more!

OK, who can beat that?

Can't beat that, but a motorway service station is usually more expensive. However, the Shell garage not too far from me - just north of M55 junction 3 near Kirkham in Lancashire - was a month ago charging 120.9p a litre for V-Power, around 10p a litre more than when I was in the Highlands of Scotland a few days earlier. I was in the Scooby so I filled up with ordinary unleaded (the TVR always gets V-Power or Ultimate!), then I asked the cashier why they were ripping off people for V-Power. He said that the garage had a new owner who had hiked the prices for almost everything. I told him that was the last time he would see me.......rolleyes

Local Shell station is charging 110.9 at the moment.

I'd assume anything much over that is going straight into the pocket of the greedy garage owner and not the Treasury

If these prices keep going up like this I'll only be able to afford one trip around the block a month!

Bah! Spoilsport! tongue out

Most expensive Shell price I saw on the motorway and the IoM was £1.16p/l

BP are consistantly the most expensive. Greedy bar stewards!

Well it does virtually ooze out of the ground after all.

Though at about $100 for a 50 gallon barrel (assuming no refining costs and knowing that petrol is a by product of the refining process)that gives a per litre rate of 22p.

Yes, it doesn't quite work out does it?? But the fuel was 100fils/litre (1000fils=1 Dinar) & 1 Dinar is about £1.33

A lot of independants will be closing due to the high cost of fuel,Diesel is costing over 118pence a litre for them to buy in tanker loads, soon we will be at the tender mercy of the supermarkets who as they have aready demonstrated with milk products will rip us off knowing the government will only take half of it in fines and then let them get back on with it.Tempus
