As Scoobaro says, all Chipsaway chaps are franchises, so quality will vary.
The only recommendation i can give is for an independant guy i know that works over Guildford way, although he's based in W.Sussex.
He's the only mobile guy i know of to use 2k paint, not water or cellulose based. 2k gives a much better finish.
This info may be totally useless to you though!

Urgh, the bonnet. Someone dropped/scraped their set of golf clubs onto my bonnet about 18 months ago. No dent just took the paint off to the metal. I'm only talking about maybe 1/2" square of paint, then the tin worm set in. I tried the local chipsaway fellah and he wasn't interested 'cos it was the bonnet. No problems with any other panels but he said bonnet was a no no as the repair would stick out like a boil on a backside. In the end I had a mates brother (body shop guy) take the bonnet off and do a full strip back and respray. At the same time he took off the front bumper and sorted out all the stone chips etc and blew in around the front wings (he also got shot of the nasty Vauxhall nose badge. Man, the job he did was superb, and I'd highly recommend him. £500, wasn't cheap but was lovely job. Mine's phantom black which is a great colour but anything amiss just shows right out. Will probably let him have the motor again later in the year as I've accrued just over a years worth of stone chips and dings. Money well spent I reckon to keep the old bird looking sweet.
i've used them to get rid of a scratch on the bumper of my previous car which i personally thought was too deep to polish out but somehow they did (they didn't need to do any painting or anything). they won't however touch stuff like you someone else just said on the bonnet or in the middle of a door panel as it will look a right mess. they can't blend in the new paint and lacquer to anything as it's such a large area (the bonnet) whereas the corners of bumpers etc they can do a lot more easily.
if you've got a silver car (like mine) then i'd also think very carefully about even getting bits resprayed as i took my Silver golf r32 in to a reputable (up until i went in!!) and well established paintshop a year or two back for a small amount of paintwork (they quoted me £280 to sort out a large scratch in centre section of bonnet and a small rusty stone chip on the top of one of the door frames)
to cut a long story short, i ended up having the entire bonnet, both wings, both front doors and both sideskirts resprayed and over a period of about 6 months. i had a courtesy car for a month in total (over 4 different weeks when they had it in) and it got to a stage where legal proceedings were the next step !!! they had huge huge problems with colour matching the silver paint to the existing paint and even had the paint manufacturers out to try and do it for them ! god knows how much it ended up costing them in the end but it must have been in the thousands as most of the front of the car was painted about 5 times in the end !!
even when they finally got it pretty much sorted i still wasn't happy and in a certain light you could see the wings weren't quite right. i think it also affected the performace of the car as i'd got so much extra weight on the front !!
anyway i sold the r32 and sensibly bought another silver car

I've found his card e mail david on info@smartmesh.co.uk, might be worth mentioning he did my Monaro in Andover.
Finally had the phone call back from Chips Away and as predicted, they will not touch the bonnet. They said i'd be better off going to a bodyshop and getting the area stripped back down and then repainted.
I'm starting to think it's a bit too much bother and hassle for just a small rusty chip on the bonnet.

little blob of touchup paint ? will look better than rust. some paint fell off my bonnet (literally!) a few months back and went rusty immediately so i've cleaned it up and managed to get some holden touchup paint and now whilst it's not perfect, it's only the kind of thing i would notice. and as mine silver i am guessing it's always going to look less good a match than black or in your case (i'm guessing from the username) red ?

lol.....no, mines black. Red is my nickname. Where did you get your touch up paint from? Mines going into Monkfish next week, wonder if they'll have any and be able to touch it up at all?Gassing Station | HSV & Monaro | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
