New key required - x-type

Hi all, can anyone help re me sorting a second key out for my x-type? I only got one key with the car. I havent yet been able to get a price from Jaguar on a replacement cost but suspect it will be extremely expensive. I see on ebay there are sellers advertising keys. Is it possible to programme one of these myself using the original key? (and then take the metal part to a normal locksmith to get them to cut a duplicate for the ignition)

100 quid for the key and an hours labour to program usual cost

sounds like my local Jag dealer is reasonable then as quoted around £125 inc VAT for the whole lot. Was thinking a programmable one off fleabay and some instructions of the web may have solved the problem for half the price. Thats the cheapskate in me shining through.
