525d M-Sport

Hi everyone, just bought a 525d M-Sport on a 06 plate.
Very very pledased with the car however I was led to beleive that the MPG would be somewhere between 35 - 40.
I seem to be getting 28 -30 MPG.
Have been very lightfooted an attempt to see if that makes a difference but nothing as yet.
So to all you other 525d owners out there what do you get ? and what am I doing wrong ?

Nice car - congrats and you're not doing anything wrong other than believing figures that are possibly on the 'optimistic' side!

I average 34 in my 535D and would expect less in traffic, more on a run. It also obviously depends on you particular circumstances.

35-40mpg will probably only be achievable when you have a mix of long runs.

my x5 is supposed to do 34mpg, and i get 25mpg mostly round town and the odd long run.

I can get 33mpg if its long runs i'm mostly doing though

I had an '05 525d for about 18 months and it routinely averaged 32 with a reasonable mix of driving. Low speed/town driving really seemed to impact it pretty badly. This came as a bit of shock to me having had a 320d before which was mid 40s to the gallon. Balance has now been restored as I replaced the 525d with a 520d M Sport which is a great package and does 45 the way I drive. (though I know that might not help...)

Also just bought E60 (05) 525D touring.

On a an airport round trip of 180 miles recently got 40.9MPG with careful driving,
typical driving mid 30's
