E60 535d strange radio/rds issue

Evening all

We've recently bought a late 2004 535d M Sport - fabulous car. However I'm somewhat perplexed by this odd situation we have with the RDS facility on the radio.

Using one of our keys, this works fine. We see Radio 1, Radio 2 etc etc. If we use the other key (which remembers all it's settings as it should), then we only see the frequencies. There's no iDrive option that I can find to enable RDS.

Anyone seen this? Maybe it needs a trip back to the dealer with the rogue key for a re-flash or something.

Is TP enabled when the rogue key is used?

Yep, I can turn that off an on as required.

If you go into the station display, and click the controller you get the little pop-up window. With either key it shows the same three options: RDS, Save, Scan

And RDS is checked?

In the radio display (where you get sort of an analogue tuner display) can you move the "cursor" up to get to field titled "set"? If yes, click on that. Is the RDS check box selected?

Duh! Sorry meant TP, Scan Save. No RDS option visible.

It's not in "manual tuning" mode is it?

who was it said i-drive was a breeze once you'd had it for a day or so? Hated it myself!

Maybe this is the modern equivalent of the old Chauffeur's key, that didn't open the glove box
