Golf GTi Mk 1 Cab Valuation

Just wondering what a Mk1 GTi Cabrio is worth in decent nick? Had a look on the net but struggling to find any proper valuations. Ive been offered one for £900 and am quite interested, obviously only if the condition is alright, but quite prepared to do some work on it myself.

An early, grotty, no-electrics car can be a few hundred quid where a really clean, late and rust free Sportline could make 5 grand at the right time of year.

Any more details on the car you're looking at?

Its all about condition at this age and what you are prepared to pay.

Go and have a look, if its a well looked after example and the body and interior is in good nick then £900 sounds ok. Service history would be nice and a fist full of receipts.

You can tell if its been well maintained or on a limited budget where problems haven't been sorted.

The advert is a little vague with no mention of servce history, MOT or mileage. Try to get as much as information as possible before you go. Also ask if its had an HPI and its history.

At 900 quid be careful the sills and arches aren't made of cornflakes. You'd spend more than it's worth repairing those.

Thanks for replies. I thought it looked like a good bargain, but after doing some further research, think Ill give it a wide birth.
