Honda VFR Vtech with ABS. Its an 02 model with 6K miles. Did a little bit of www research after seeing one in the local dealer and booked an hours test ride last Thursday. Picked it up over the weekend and its in the garage until the insurance docs come through (no tax). I think I paid a little over the odds but the bike is mint and got a few freebies plus the dealer is only a mile away.

Despite the general opinion I loved the linked braking (must be a marmite thing?), it keeps the bike pretty level even when trying to get the abs going! The vtech was not as bad as I was expecting after reading several reviews, quite mild and no sudden bang at 7000rpm.

I am really looking forward to having something reliable with everything working as it should and thank f**& for efi - no more choke!!!! My last two bikes were approaching 18 years old and 12,000 mpa on something that age takes its toll (on me as well as the bike).

Bought a hugger from the local Honda dealer, not a carbon finish but still half the price to what I trawled up through google. Will fit over the weekend, tax on Saturday and then painfree commuting as of next week! Will get some pics up before coating her in crud!

Writing this has just convinced me to keep the gsx it owes me nothing and needs but a little tlc! Will keep her for next winter. Now all I need is a proper summer bike...

Managed to sneak in an hour or so of pottering this morning. Had not cleaned her since riding her off from the dealer so it was long overdue but amazingly all was ok. No corrosion, everything came up near enough as new!

My housemate has a 2000 model (1 before the vtec IIRC), he loves it.

Nice bike, Honda reliability and build quality too!

I've got one just like that...04 model, ABS and full panniers. A double bubble screen made all the difference for the motorway commute.

Now I just need to find another bike for fun biggrin

Nice bike. It should do the commute with ease and still offer some fun potential for the weekend.

Mmm a new screen sounds tempting, windblast is just in the wrong place at motorway speeds (ahem!). I had look at the screen thats fitted and it seems to be higher than standard - there are no Honda stickers/signs so not sure if its original. May be thats next on the list though I've been keeping an eye out for a Honda top box - they seem to be few and far between and when they do come up very expensive! Ordered a hugger last week, should help keep the back end looking a bit tidier.

It looks very clean and should give bullet-proof reliability smile

Just bought myself a pre-vtec one after lunching the engine on my old TDM. So far I'm impressed. I've covered £2k miles in the first two weeks and my only niggkle was comfort. I've since bought a new seat with gel pads and better foam and it's much better.
