Clutch/Oil seepage
Discussion
I have some oil seepage (I think) onto the clutch on a 39,000 mile R plate 450.
This manifests itself in "juddering" when pulling away when the car is cold.
Will get this looked at in late september when it goes in to see uncle joolz!
Question: I am worried about the oil that is seeping in, which I presume to be gearbox oil. What about the oil level. will it drop too low. How do I check it? Bearing in mind I have the mechanical ability of a bears arse and the practicality of an elphant on a unicycle as a means of commuting!
Oh and how do I top up and what with

Not sure what colour the oil is as It is seeping onto the plate...
Least ways that is what I assume is causing the judder as I pull away when I engage the clutch when the car is cold. This dissappears after a few miles.
There bite is right at the top of the travel of the pedal and there seems to only about 2cm difference between engaged and dis-engaged.
I check the engine oil every trip so keep this topped up, but there is very little usage.
Could it be clutch and of life?
Thanks for all the replies so far

..any staining on the bottom of the bell housing ? ..It sounds like you're only going to really find out by getting the thing apart I'm afraid.
A bit of a stab in the dark, but if the clutch slave sylinder has a seal leaking you could even be getting brake fluid onto the clutch ? whats on the garage floor ?
Cheers,
Matt.

Aha!
I did have the master cylinderleaking about 7 weeks ago, but this was sorted.
The oil on the floor SEEMS (?) to be motor oil.
The fault sort of gois after a few "pull aways" from junctions. As if somthing is being cleaned of.
There does seem to be some oil seeoin from the bottom of the engine g/box come together type of area.
Hoping it will be ok for the trip down to Mania tomorrow.
