They will care when they are actually taking place.

If you had conducted a survey before the Manchester Commonwealth Gamnes you would have got a similar result. Yet the games, by all accounts, were extremely successful.

In general principle, GREAT! Olympics in Britain, fab!

However, knowing full well that it'll be all fked up by terrible, terrible government - 'Noooooooooo, hold 'em somewhere else!'

Actually I disagree, Eric. I believe most people in Britain will simply get on with life during the Olympics. A tiny proportion will actually go to see the games, and a slightly larger but small proportion will watch some of it on the TV. The rest will continue watching Eastenders same as they always have. Those that don't will go to football matches - same as they always have.

It's not like life will stop so the Olympics can go on, now is it?

I, for one, won't go to see any of it - or watch it on TV. The wife will probably watch some gymnastics - for a bit - before turning over.

And I'm not against the Olympics at all...

The olympics like many other things have simply outlived their useful life.

When the olympics was true amateurs who didn't take drugs it was interesting.

Now its a load of professionals with dubious training techniques its about as important as yesterdays news.

I'm sure the events will be well attended, by both Brits and foreigners visiting for the games.

Oh for christs sake. I knew they had gone over but I thought it was double. Not quadruple. What a fking waste. I'd have sooner put 9bn (or lets face it it'll be 12bn wont it) into reducing class sizes in schools.

I care about it. I care that 50 people died trying to deliver the Athens Olympics on time. Thats a number of injuries and fatalities that would never be acceptable in my industry and it's bloody shocking that this was allowed to happen and then hushed up in EUROPE. You will also be pleased to know that 10 people have already died preparing the bejing Olympic sites. That's 10 that we know about by the way. The Chinese are not exactly forthcoming on these subjects.

Let somebody else banrkrupt themselves hosting a morally bankrupt international sham.

I'd say 50% (some blokes and most women) don't care about football but we get that rammed down our throats every day.

I think the Olympic budget will continue to creep upwards in a beaurocratic mess, BUT I think the actual Games will be a success.

The difference is football is not funded by the taxpayer.

It is depressing, but I notice it's more prevalent on PH. People rarely come on here with a positive view, much more often it's to complain about something. :sigh:

Don't care.

It's a construction project. Accidents happen. As long as they work within accepted standards of the comnstruction industry in this country I don't see any problem.

Two years ago a chap was killed when helping construct the pavillions for the Farnborough Air Show. In your logic, should the Farnborough Air Show have been cancelled?

A couple of years ago a lad driving a fork lift for Sainsbury's was killed because he hadn't been given adequate training. Should Sainsbury's have been shut down?

Keep things in perspective.
