I'm starting to shake down the S now, working out what needs doing urgently ( idling, running, stopping it acting like a very quick bathtub) and whats just important ( shocks, bush's, etc)...
I noticed a fair amount of "kickback" in the steering on the backroads into salisbury yesterday, they ain;t great roads, but it felt a little loose... watching it, the colum sees to move up and down a little over the bumps, but no obvious forward or back movement, i think this is something i need to address urgently to give me more confidence.
I do recognise that shock condition, bush's and track rods will all impact, but i seem to have read somewhere that there is a bulkhead bearing that fails, can anyone enlighted me and suggest if it could be this ( or how to test) and if so, what part is it and the obvious... where the hell do i get one from

Hi,
Basically grab the steering rack as it passes through the bulkead and give it a shake around to see how much play there is - this is more of a side to side play than the up and down you describe but a relativly simple job to do and if you have the old Ford plastic type then well worth replacing with the machined alluminium one - you can get one from TVRCarparts.

so, i took today off to play with the S... perfect weather... i grabbed hold of the rack and gave it a shake..... WOW, yep, def in need of a bulkhead bearing and had a look at the article, doesn;t seem too hard... imagine this will be the biggest change to the handling i'll make for £16 !!

i was going to post and ask advice on how to stop it filling up like a bath, any particular areas.... but then i figured everyone would be laughing way too much to reply...
the only prob is, carpet under the driver seat is soaking, which is soaking the foam, which is soaking my arse... not an attractive sight when i get out....
