Legend of an idea... promote my cab company on beer mats and dish them out to all the bars in town to use gratis. That's how they end up with the Carlsberg/Carling/Guinness ones isn't it... biggrin

So... How do I get beer mats printed up? Anyone on here capable of producing such a legendary idea?

Check with the pubs first - all the ones I see are promoting stuff from the brewery/company that owns the pub.

Privately owned bars and clubs mainly. Might require a bit of partnership with the chain brewery's or something - I'll look into it smile

So can anyone print these bad boys up, what do they cost?

Ive used http://www.thirstys.co.uk/ in the past for some small runs for promo stuff - not sure what I paid now though. Very helpful and sent me a sample pack very quickly if I remember rightly!

It is isnt it... seems so obvious! I bet the local pubs wont allow it like the other guy said.. however if there is a good dont drink drive message on it 'get a cab' then that might give them more of an incentive to have them in the pubs?

A better idea would be to have more cabs available at closing time. There is always a queue outside the pub / club... wink

Nothing stopping a pub owner / tennant putting whatever beer mats they wish on their tables, Brewery don't care. I would do this. In our town there is a company thats introduced a text a cab system, you text from the pub while your enjoying your last pint text the ref of the pub and they come pick you up and text you when your cab is outside.

Any decent printer can do the job - it's basically normal printing, just on thick, absorbent board. My advice is to start looking carefully at samples and get advice (from pcowen if you want). Because the material is absorbent, and off-white, the reproduction is quite poor and blurry. You'll find that photo's, fine detailing, and certain light colours won't work well. And of course, the colours are all flattened - what looks lovely on the computer screen can be a real disappointment.
But get that advice, and look for colours that work well on very matt stock, and you'll come up with something you'll be very pleased with.
