I'm attempting to reassemble the drive shafts. They were in a box in bits when I received them so I'd like to understand how they fit back together. The joints were missing each end and I have sourced replacements. The drive flanges are different both ends so I'm looking for answers to the following.

1) Does the inner splined section (male) connect to the diff or the quill shaft?
2) Where does the dust boot fit - over the quill shaft or diff UJ?

I've found this picture on John Uphams ever useful site but I'm still a bit confused

Thanks

James

The thick end (female) of the drive shaft is bolted to the diff and
this is also the end where the boot is mounted.

So on your picture the words diff and quill must be turned.

Does anyone have a specification for the half shaft flange that bolts onto a Salisbury diff on a 3000? The U/J holes elongated on mine and I am not confident in the replacement I had knocking around.
The replacement that I fitted has been seriously hammered at some time. Although that seems to fit in with both the car and its driver I would like to find a new one.
I think they should be available locally, made by Spicer, but I need to know what to order. Do they come in different strength specifications?
