Hi can anyone tell me if it is possible to remove the water pump with the engine in situ or does it have to come out, also does anyone have the information on how the assembly comes off the engine?

Mines started to weep so need to do something. any idea where to get one from and a price?

Thanks

it's an engine out job to be able to remove the pump. where about is it leaking from?

It looks like its coming from the front of the pump, not sure if there is a tell tale hole there? it is only leaving a few drips on the pipes below but that is with the engine cold sat on the ramp. How is it driven, is it on a common shaft that drives oil and pas pump?

Hmm, the front of the pump is a large O ring. The problem is that the bolts that secure the pump at the front require you to take the timming cover off the front of the engine, and that is generally accepted as an engine out job because there isn't enough room in the car to take it off before you hit the frame. frown

do you reckon its just the o ring leaking?

well, its either the o ring at the end or its comming out of the seal at the inlet or outlet.

Its a shame you're a long way away or you could see the one thats attached to the engine sitting on the floor in the middle of my garage.

Its an engine out job. If you look at the pic below, the oil/water/PAS drive is the one at the bottom left. In order to remove the pumps you need to undo the nut that holds the drive wheel on, and if you look closely you can see the 4 retaining nuts that bolts the pump assembly body to the block. Apparently a few people have managed to remove the PAS pump with the engine in situ, but I haven't heard of anyone managing to remove the oil or water sections. Rebuild details for the pump assembly is given in the engine rebuild manual.

Thanks Longbow, only thing is I cant get the picture to open and not showing on this page either.

Where can I get a copy of the engine build manual, been looking on all the sites and already have parts manual and service manual but they're next to useless?

Not sure why the pic isn't showing, it seems fine on preview and then vanishes when I post!

The link to the pic is

The rebuild manual was available on ebay about a year ago, a few owners bought it although supply seems to have dried up. Its very useful if you ever feel in the mood to rebuild your AJP8.
