Hi I own a 07 S Exige, im my wisdon I have offered to lend it to a freind of mind for the weekend whos a fair bit younger than me ( 23 )

I do trust him etc but would insist that he is fully comp, are there any insurance companies that specialise in doing it for a weekend only, I know he has tried his own insurance company and they are not interested

Have you tried Norwich Union single day cover, don't remember there being an age restriction. Cost about £20 a day I think...

I think he means if he bends it or knocks it, you may not want to continue your friendship. Nothing more sinister! Hope he's driven it or similar before- it's not a car you can just get in and drive.

Wow, that's quite a deal, considering the risk they are taking.

Day insurance tends to have big excesses and maybe limited pay outs in the event of an accident so check over all the details.

Gotta say you're very trusting, I'm 23 and my parents wouldn't let me take out their Z4 with day insurance.

Can't you just add him to your policy and he pays the difference?

The only way I would lend someone my car is if he presented me the whole cost of the car in £££ stuffed in a suitcase as an insurance. I let an ex-friend drive my S2 111S with me as a passenger...I asked him to take it easy and I had to cut the drive short as he proceeded to bk towards the 1st roundabout doing 90mph and then nearly couldn't brake in time cause he said 'the pedals' was making it difficult to modulate the brakes.

I demanded that he stopped after the next turn in and gave him a piece of my mind. Because I told him he wouldn't be allowed a drive the car he bought an Exige later to kind prove a point that he could handle one - which he crashed 1 month later trying to impress someone on a greasy roundabout. Despite warning him that a lightweight RWD mid-engined car on track-biased tyres should be treated with respect in the winter. Oh well.

The only person I would now loan a car to is my dad.

I can imagine you getting angrier and angrier as you typed that moan

Sounds like the OP trusts his mate - if he's insured then I'm sure he'll enjoy it. Nice gesture too IMO

Everyone is different at the end of the day. If OP's trusts his mate then fair dos.

What got me was that when someone says they'll take it easy and then try to rag the bks instead then you'll have reason to be a little annoyed.

Last year I got 1 weeks insurance (full Comp) by obtaining a HPI check through the RAC.
Only cost about £5 too.

See if the offer is still on.

Lending a 23 year old your 07 Exige S, are you barking mad? Nothing wrong with a 23 year old owning one and driving one, and gradually building up confidence etc etc, but just for the weekend ??

Rather you than me.
