Charity Fun Day at Honington
Discussion
Hey all, I am posting this to see what kind of interest can be curried up in the name of Charity. (Nicey and Smashy style)
Where? RAF Honington
When? 30 Jul 08 (wednesday)
How long? 1200 - 1700
I have been approached by the powers at Honington to see if I can put together a group of interesting cars to show on base to bring more people in to raise more money
The Charity is for Victims of War, something close to our heart in the forces.
If I can get an interesting collection of cars together it would be realy great.
The day is not a weekend but 30 July which is a Wednesday, but I reckon this is enough notice to allow people to get time of work for the afternoon.
I am trying to negotiate if we can have a play on the runway too but my last effort fell flat due to insurance.
So do your bit for charity and lets put on a good show eh?

I am not sure of the fine details as yet, was only approached myself yesterday afternoon, but there will be other things going on that day, with a military flavour no doubt.
I have asked the question on attempting take off and it is being looked into.
As for the sort of cars we are after it is as many and different types we can, the more the merrier of course and the greater the variety the better in my eyes.

Ok you information hungry junkies I had a meeting yesterday with regards to the day and here are a few more details
We have been asked to show the cars from 12 noon to approx 4pm when we will convoy out to the runway for a brief before we are let loose. A coach will be put on for people wanting to be passengers for a blast.
Unlimited runs up the runway with a slow recovery run back down the taxi way.
I suggested a figure of £5 per passenger for charity and that went down well.
There will be a beer tent, food stalls, and various military displays ranging from model aircraft to static vehicle stands. An `Its a Knockout` comp between Army Airforce teams. (should be interesting.
They are realy excited about the cars turning up, I realy think we will be one of the major attractions so the more the merrier.
Would like to get the widest possible publicity for this to attract as many as I can.
There is a glider event going on that week too so we will have to wait for them to stop flying at 4pm or 5pm. Then its our turn to fly.
If there are any volunteers to help marshall the event/runs when not driving that would be most helpfull.
Will bring more news when I have it.
