Hi Folks,

I've just spotted Val Walker's famous "Rat Mobile" on Ebay.

It's a 1967 Scimitar GT that had a roof chop and looks superb!

The restoration/conversion was done back in 1998. I have only seen the car once before (many years back).

It didn't sell on Ebay the first time, but it has been relisted. I am suprised, as it's a superb example, well worth the money in my opinion. I guess not having a roof might have put people off biggrin

The new Ebay Item Number is: 230240698627

a really nice car...very nice!!!!

but a shame that somebody was so stupid to fit such an ugly modern radio into the dash!!!! why not placing such a radio inside the glovebox?

Sadly there is not enough room in the glove box for a decent radio to fit. New radios/cd players are too deep. The later Scimitar GTE's (SE5a and SE6 series have a deeper glovebox) I still have the original radio in my 1969 Scimitar SE5 (which is more or less the same dashboard as the V6 Coupe), but it doesn't work.

I would love to fit a cd player, but decided I didn't want to cut a bigger hole in the dashboard.

This looks to be a good solution ...

With the exchange rate the price isn't too bad either

Cheers

Theres a chap on Ebay sells old VHF Blaupunkt stereos from VWs, with a 5 pin DIN socket at the back.

Apparently you can hook the socket up to an MP3 player. I fancy one of them next.
