I know the previous topic was closed, but saw this on the BBC News site. A man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with her death. Maybe more to this story than initially thought?

I've been reading about this in the local paper. It seems she was freed by two men but as she moved to saftey with one person I think her boyfriend called her back to the far side and was hit by the train.

Sorry, but with the best will in the world, I can't help but think she must have been downright thick to have just be rescued and then put herself in the path of the train again. Sad, really sad.

What time of the day did the incident happen?

Had they been drinking beforehand?

People don't always behave absolutely rationally sometimes - they react on instinct. I know of a chap killed by a train when he chased after his cap which blew off in the wind. I actually saw a bloke hurt himself by stepping off the platform of a moving bus.

These people weren't particularly stupid - they just acted or reacted on impulse.

None of us are immune from such behaviour. We don't behave like rational, sensible beings ALL the time.

True, but how can this bloke be held responsible for manslaughter short of pushing her under the train?

I would assume that the charge has been brought about because his actions appear to have been instrumental in how she died.

Just because someone is charged doesn't mean

a) that the case will go ahead (that'll be down to the Crown Prosecution Service)

or

b) if it does go ahead, that he will be found guilty

The individual charged appears to be her boyfriend/partner - not the train driver.

Bringing a CHARGE against someone does not mean that the person is GUILTY of anything.
It actually allows the courts to get to the bottom of what actually happened.

that might depend on how scared she was of her boyfriend. In the initial reports he had been heard berating her about them missing their train and that she should effectively get a move on.
