As one of the possibilties for this year I was considering a visit to The Shuttleworth Collection near Biggleswade. For those who don't know much about the place here's a link to there site.

There are two possibilties as I see it. The first is an 'Evening Flying Display' on Sat May 17th and the second is the 'Military Pageant Air Display' on Sun 1st June. Most of the events after these dates tend to clash with other events in our calander.

Having talked to a few people who have been, the evening events tend to get less crowded, and the display doesn't start until 5pm so no early start to get in at 9am like the air display. My own preference would probably be the Evening Flying Display, that way it would be a meet up around lunch time and convoy to Shuttleworth giving us the afternoon to explore before the flying display.

As well as the flying display the site also has a static display of old aircraft and vehicles. There is also a 'Birds of Prey' centre, and 'Swiss Garden', so there should be something for everyone. Admission for either event is £20 which gives access to everything on site.

So over to you guys. Any preference / thoughts ?

Sounds like a grand day out Ian, Please chalk up Sue and I. Both date are OK by us but we'd prefer the afternoon/evening slot.

It's just down the road from me - an excellent venue for meeting up and the flying displays are superb - an aviation version of Brooklands, still active and captured in time and atmosphere.

Sadly can't make those dates, but enjoy - if you go for the May one in the evening, you will get more chance of seeing the real veterans flying - the pre WW1 stuff of "Those Magnificent Men" vintage. The weather has to be good to get them out anyway, but even on a good day they generally need the stiller, calm conditions of the early evening to risk getting them in the air. But worth it for the sight of them!

Well look like Sat May 17th is the favorite date so far. Only 9 so far, any more interest ? I thought this one might have a broader appeal.

I'd be up for a run up the A1 for this.

Try posting in the Herts forum too.

Looks like the numbers are improving now.

Based on preference for the 'Evening Flying Display' on Sat 17th May, I,ll start to get a plan of action together.

Is everyone happy with a meeting point somewhere like Brampton Hut services nr Huntingdon and then a blat down the A1 to Briggleswade with maybe another pick up point on route. I would guess that we would need to meet up around 12.00 / 12.30pm so as we had the afternoon at he venue to explore before the display.

Anyone any thoughts ?

Ah the Swiss Garden...I remember going there when I was younger and there's a pet cemetery one of the headstones was "Fu.Ku" redface

Seriously the evening events are the best - especially a warm evening...then to the Crown at Northill for a drink afterwards!

Well I maybe in the area that day as it is around the time of a mates birthday who is associated with Shuttleworth College...otherwise would be a bit of a trek...and depends if I take advantage of the quiet day at Alton Towers due to there being some football match on

As for Stuff, what's "stuff"

'stuff' saves you reading your own post all over again!

I can see you're interested. Mr Venni has one ticket left and if you buy it before midnight he'll give you 10% off. That has to be better than a possible footie match many miles away in the rain. And let's face it, your team will probably lose, but at Shuttleworth everyone's a winner.

You wouldn't want to let your best mate down, now would you Mr Prospect? He'll be your buddy for life. Which car would you like to bring?

(fk me, I wish I could keep this up during office hours!)
