Serial lead is usually just a standard one available at most good pc shops

Software and info is here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dave.hinns/software.h...

While we're on the subject, I've got the disc, lead and laptop which I managed to not need last time - my MIL warning is on again full time, so about to try the diagnosis.

I've got it all connected up and about to start - can some kind person give me an idiots step by step from switching on to diagnosing - please bear in mind my computer experience is very limited!

Cheers

you've probably got fed up of waiting for a reply, and cracked on smile but just in case....It only works if the immobiliser hasn't cut in - ie if you press the start button the engine will turnover. From then on it's all pretty self explanatory, and bu the time you read his you'll know more than I do cos it's ages since I used it !

Got the manual? Section G -Engine gives you the info on how to use the software.

Or with the software there's a damn good write up on the speed 6 engine explaining what all the bits of the software do.

Thanks Dave
I see the stuff in section G, but it assumes I know something about setting this uppaperbag - really basic question, I know, but what should my laptop be set at when I put ignition on?
And where would I find the sp6 stuff you mentioned?

Hi Dave,
Still not getting anywhere I'm afraid.
I need to know what programme I need, to open the information on the disc. What platform did you use, was it Office Word?? If so, would it be possible to do the same on a PDF format?? Or can you send by email same on a compatible format to me??
The information appears to need a platform I do not have.

Cheers Robert

Well, important bits are checking the throttle settings, making sure they are roughly matched as you open the throttle. If you open the throttle by hand, check the cable hasn't become detatched from the quadrant on the nearside of the assembly.

You can make sure the lambdas are working, you can read the fault codes, the actual temp of your engine rather than what the guage says, etc etc.

edit: Oh and read Peppe's doc/pdf (the speed 6 one above). It's a really good read and explains lots.

Having done a quick diagnostic look last night, I suspect all is not well with the lambdas - the sp6 software states lambda 1 is for front cylinders 1,2 & 3 and lambda 2 for rear4,5&6 - what is configuration for V8?

and while I'm on, £99 for a new sensor - FFS! are they made by NASA??

I'll correct that as it appears the the Cerb' uses the same lambda sensors as the RV8!

I have a NTK one here, number on is is: OTD3G-3A1

Where were you quoted £99? Does sound about right though. frown

Get down the motor factors, you pay through the nose for a lot of things that are sold for TVRs when in reality they are used on a multitude of other vehicles.
