My girlfriend has just passed full bike test. Problem is she is just 5'2" and can only find a couple of sportsbikes she can get her legover and feel comfortable on (Honda NC30 VFR 400 or RVF). Ideally she would like a 600cc sportsbike. I know we can get a lowering kit, but suspect it will affect the handling. Any good ideas out there other than a Harley Style cruiser. Any help much appreciated. Cheers.

The K6+ GSX-R600s are quite low to the ground. Also you can get boots designed to solve this problem - Daytona Ladystars?

My wife has been surprised at how low her TT600 is compared to her previous vfr 750, and I find it toy-like compared to the Sprint.
Also insurance was most reasonable (apparently people don't really crash them like normal sports bikes!).
Low end fuelling is pretty rubbish around town, but you can ride around it.

Width is also an isse as you don't realy want legs to have to go outwards befor they can go down wards IYKWIM.

Try looking at sone singles, V twins etc.

The old Yamaha SZR 660 was an under rated scratcher, Honda 650 Bros/Hawk has a low seat.
Suzuki SV are quite low IIRC.

Hello!
Another short ass lady here, I'm 5'2, bought a CBR 600 FV, dropped him when I couldnt get a proper foot down at a junction and then had a hyperpro lowering kit fitted.
IMHO being such a novice I dont notice a difference to the handling, and if it's an issue down the line the front forks can be dropped to sharpen him up again.
Now I can get both feet down comfortably and it's given me much more confidence.

Just need some better weather biggrin

Also get her over to www.bikegirl.co.uk . It is a womens biking web site with loads of discussion and info on the particular trials we face being shorter and differently built wink

you can get the seats resculped to give a lower seat height as well. although the only bike ive ever sat on that had that done was a cbr600 & i thought it was difficult to touch the floor. the seat was so wide it was like doing spilts. although im told that seat had been badly done & wasnt a good example.

The SV650 is pretty low, i think the bandit is low too. Bith gear bikes.

As your confidence grows you will be les bothered about getting your feet down. I'v got a 29" inside leg and ride a zx10r which has a pretty high seat. Made even higher with the prelad adjusted.

Very good point... my Wife although not being short didnt think it was that low until I parked my Thundercat next to it ... it was then pretty obvious that the TT600 was very low to the ground - this is probably why it handles so well... awesome bikes imho

Not a sports bike but... has she thought about a Guzzi? The engine layout lends itself to a low seat...

Gixamora:...It is handy to be able to balance toes are sufficient, an easy flick downs/stand might help(normal riding). Go to a Harley Dealer, you will be welcomed, given a coffee, and there"s an 883 Sportster would be the answer, it wont break the bank, low miles s/h there all looked after, all sorts of add ons available, you will be amazed. My Sportster has a low softish seat, not of my fitting, but its comfy, Im 5.11 sit back, grip the A hangers, and GO. I used to thrash a Norton 650ss about, they are "low" get a leg over one of those, carry some spare oil tho. Find one in Classic Bike Mag: Knibbo.byebye P.S please reply, nice to know what your getting your " Leg Over "

You're entitled to your opinion, but it's a bit of a stretch to call a Harley a sports bike cos it has "Sportster" on it, isn't it? I thought "sports bike" was pretty clearly defined, maybe just me biggrin

I've discovered I need to be very aware of cambers! I fell off again last night, the bike was on a camber and I knew but thought I'd be ok and the bike toppled over before I got my foot down! Bikes OK but my ego isn't frown
I'm determined not to give up! At least I didn't spend a fortune buying my first bike.
Just ask her to be careful where she parks, stops and not be a 'tard like me smile

Did anyone mention Daytona Ladystars? Built up heels for ladies, expensive but highly recommened on Bikegirl.co.uk
