I am still looking for my first TVR and will be using it most days. My misses will also use the car now and then so was after a car with PAS. I have only driven 2 Chimaeras so far both with PAS, but many o the cars for sale dont have it fitted. Does it feel much different to one without? I have read some arguements that non-PAS cars give the driver better feedback would this be the general consensus? Cheers

Well on the cars without PAS, TVR put on narrower front tyres. That should tell you something. Lack of PAS is fine provided you don't have
1. a tight driveway/access to garage
2. you don't have to do three point turns
3. you don't have to street park in crowded roads

You will always have to regularly check the fronts to make sure they are inflated to their correct pressure. Every one psi under really does get significantly heavier.

PAS cars probably sell better (do sellers of non PAS cars overinflate for the test drive?) but are fairly notorious for leaks in certain areas.

Do try a non PAS car in the situations described above before you commit to buy and then you should be able to make your own informed judgment.
Goog luck David

TVR worked very hard to sell cars to girlies tongue out

The PAS cars seem to be much more expensive to maintain, you have to really want it to justify the slight difference IMHO.

If you compared a poorly setup PAS car to a well setup nonPAS car you might even think they are the other way round. Its very hard for a 'novice' to compare cars they just vary so much in character wink

rolleyesYeh,only if the resevoir was emptylaughfunny i have not had any expenditure on my PAS system since ownership(apart from an oil change)and neither have the previous owners according to all the paperwork/recipts i have, seems to me the only ones to bh about PAS on the Chims havent got ittongue out and my car as well above average mileagerolleyesdepends on use i would say if you insist on bumping up and down curbs then you will wear the racks end seals(causing leakage of oil into gaiters)but this applies to all PAS systems and certainly not just TVR systems, but in saying all this i would try both after all opinions vary and some owners may find the PAS a touch light, each to their own i guess.

..And there are more working parts in a PAS system, but that is just as reliable, and doesn't cost more to maintain? You are in a world of your own at times... laugh

The PAS cars cost more to buy, they cost more to maintain, is it worth it? Simple sensible logic. "Its like this if you drive one with you wont want one without" sounds like you are intimating that non PAS cars are crap to me.

Since you wish to stray OT, and if there was only a single occurrence I could point out an occasion when your illiteracy was embarrassing to a 5 year old loser.

If you don't want to participate in a reasoned argument why bother posting? I can't even remember you being able to write anything that amused me much either..

Try asking BB how much time his car has been off the road with PAS faults for one. There are far more instances on these cars of PAS problems than your mythical raving about collapsed oil filters. Real world, not planet TD.

Was the English in my earlier statement too hard for you to follow? I am not going to clarify it if you can't understand it.

Ribol couldn't rattle my cage, since I well know he just has a giant chip on his shoulder, possibly as large as yours. Since this is neither humorous or informational, I shall not post any more on this trivia, so don't bother trying to bait me wink

Really? Ok, since you insist on going down this road, let's do it.

You are not some sort of expert on here despite what YOU may like to think, you are just another person who posts on a public forum. Every person who posts on here knows something you don’t and vice versa, get over it.

You have posted stuff incorrectly on several occasions and when it has been pointed out to you instead of accepting you were wrong you continue to try and argue a point you cannot win – a true sign of a muppet.
When that doesn’t work you then resort to personal jibes, see above.

So, Mr Expert give it a rest with the high almighty act because we ain’t interested and if we are talking about having chips, you must run a Fish & Chip shop – which would also explain where you get some of your knowledge from.

If this isn’t clear enough for you, feel free to ask me to spell it out a little simpler for you.

Had both. Had PAS on my Griff for over 6 years with no issues. Wouldn't go back to a non PAS car as the PAS rack just reacts quicker and with less effort.
Drive both and make your own mind up.
