Hi,

Saw a new X6 earlier in Beaconsfield, Bucks

Metallic Red, RHD - must be one of the first on the road

Looked Rank to be honest - and I speak as a ('bangled') bmw owner myself. Sits really high, wheels look tiny (even the 20 inchers) as a result.

I initially thought it was an X5, and then I saw the pinched glasshouse as it went past.

I guess the colour didn't help but they will probably sell like hotcakes anyway.

I'm not a fan at all of them but i like the metallic red in them.

I just dont see the point - why buy a vehicle that is more restrictive and more expensive than an x5 - other than 'because you can'.

Careful with thet viewpoint. I made a similar point when the X6 was launched and got severely chewed out by a senior haymarket employee.

The X6 does appear to be available with the fabulous X635d engine (3.0 ltr with twin turbos) mated to the paddle gearbox which gives it one up on the X5.

And I actually like the look of it!

Will it be available in Sport trim?

You can get that engine in the x5, though not sure about the paddle box.

Will reserve ultimate judgement until after i see one 'in the flesh'.
