This was left as the last trophy to get as it was the most £££ car to buy; assumed it would be reasonably easy to polish off as the rest were. My word was I cussing last Friday as I switched on to have a 'quick' go. Hour later managed 3rd, but still a second gap from the cars in front over the line. Am I missing a trick here, or is this one dead hard on purpose?

It's notoriously hard, doing most of the overtakes at the "bus stop".

...finally...
Probably took me 100 goes. That's probably 3 hours of my life! But, thats 3 hours I've happily given as it was a fantastic challenge! Well done clever little game writers.

Not wanting to sound smug, but I managed it after about 3 go's, the best way to finish it is to massively cheat and use the other cars as your brakes.

GT5 offline practically encourages it.

Online racing is different though. I hate dirty racers online.

It's not smug if you cheated defeats the object of playing the game if your going to cheat.
may as well just download somone else's save game.

Took me 4 goes to get bronze, but as said still a second behind the front car.
but then wen't online as my bro wanted to play, so not fair for him to sit and watch me try and get gold for 2 hours.

Tried not to, too much anyway. I was mostly ridiculous sideways action all the way around; couldn't get close with any active steering/traction aid turn on.

Now get your teeth into the F40 challenge.

That took me about 5 times as long as the F430... smile

Not a problem getting bronze with standard dynamics, the pro dynamics are something else though. I've got bronze once and can't repeat it for toffee.

No you have to collect £2million to buy it, and it's only available to buy after you have completed all of the S-Class races.

Did you get 1st in this one? Best I managed was a sideways 2nd, the lead car still plenty ahead frown

F430 I did second time but I've seemed to struggle on other races that everyone else clears gold 1st time - wierd. Having said that F40 was a bleeder (not as bad a Fuji S7 though - jeez)!

Only got second with the F40 but have gone into the final chicane any number of times side by side with the lead car before getting a ramming penalty when the lead car turned into me mad

Anyway - here's how I get into that position and hopefully someone finds it helpful and has more luck than me at the final chicane!

Key for me is to clear up to and including the R35 by the time you go past where you turn right if you were racing the Suzuka East circuit (if you see what I mean). To do this you have to get the Lexus into the first bend and then the GT40/Corvette by end of 2nd bend. From there its a case of threading through. The SL55 can be a bit of a blocker and I find it the toughest to pass in this phase. Believe it or not the best way is round the outside of the Lexus at the first and then hold that side of the track so you've the inside line into the start of the esses and because the A1 cars stick to the racing line the track opens up a bit. You'll usually find the Tamora on the inside line into the first turn of the esses but there's normally enough room.

Generally speaking then you can count on at least one of the others screwing up the 2 right handers after you've done the R35 and this is where you can nail the Viper and Tuscan to get another couple of places. After that I think you're up the the 3rd place. The next one is the R8 which you can take either on the curve leading up to Spoon or into Spoon. Then it all goes wrong for me. I can pull in the first place car but as I said never get past it and it takes me so many goes to get there that it's gets a bit of a chore!

I think the generally accepted best way is round the outside into the first turn on the chicane but when I try that I end up with shortcut penalty because I end up with two wheels on the grass...

Cheers

DC

Had a quick go other night.. and indeed round the outside on the 1st bend helps a lot. Previously had tried a tactical impact penalty to sail through a few cars.. what a cad eh?!
So, progress, best is still 2nd but 0.5 secs adrift. One day...

I gets me shouting out with frustration.. swearing at it.. god I love that game !

Is there any point in getting all golds in all tasks I wonder? Apart from getting enough loot for the F1 car that is

I think someone has got all golds, and said there was nothing given for it, unfortunately.

now 0.3 secs behind 1st place, after an irresponsibly long session last night.. carried way into this morning. Had to force myself to stop. Addictive or what!
