Hi there people, was wondering if you could help me out... The water temp guage in the dashboard isnt working one of my friends mentioned it would probably be a new sender required... i was wondering if this is so.. and also where to buy from?

Aswell, i think i need to replace my oil pressure sensors.... now i see you can get 1.3 bar or 1.8bar sensors, which do you think are suitable for a jabbasport chip and pulleyed corrado??

thanks guys

It could be a number of things, if you are not reading anything, sensor, wiring, fuse, poor connection, faulty gauge, etc, etc.......

Why do you think you need a new oil pressure sensor?

Well, once engine is warm, i get oil pressure light + siren (if below approx 2800rpm) Once im revving again it goes away, but once i back off below the 2800rpm it just comes on again!? Im told by a mate of mine to change sensors 1st as they are known to "go" from time to time.

There are two oil pressure switches listed because there are a high and low pressure used by the engine.
The high pressure switch goes ont he top of the oil filter housing and the other is the low pressure sensor and is located on the head.

And just go to VW or GSF or Euro car parts and ask for a water temp sensor smile

Cheers

NO dont go to GSF for senders, get genuine VW ones they are not expensive. A water temp sender is one of the 3 on side of the block - easy to change but a little fragile.

as for your strange issue of the light an buzzer coming on at lower revs when the engine is hot but not when at higher revs... have you actually checked you oil level!! driving the car faster will increase oil pumps speed thus pumping the *possibly* low level of oil around better. does the buzzer and light go off when you go round tight corners to?

The wiring for the senders can get a tad fragile , the oil pressure ones are located on top of the oil cooler - might be worth just checking the connections first before replacing parts.

Be careful also on the oil grade.

A thin fully syn' oil would sound the sensor siren on my Golf sometimes, whereas a cheaper mineral oil would never ever get it to sound.
