Can anyone tell me what the quality / file size is likely to be on transfer of
slides to digital?

I also want to do some A1 size enlargements from the digital images, possible?

Clearly that will depend on how good your scanner is.
I have a Nikon slider/neg scanner (Coolscan 500, or something like that) and it produces reasonably decent scans resulting in an image approx. 3000x2000 pixels and 3MB (though in fact that may not be the max. quality settings).
I'm sure a top notch professional scanner will do much better.

Thanks Joe, sounds like that would work. yes

I now just need to find somewhere with a scanner near me as I don't wish to send these away.

Any ideas anyone, I'm in northants?

A decent scanner should easily go to A1 size print - how many slides have you got to scan?

I'd need to check, just got them out of storage, but around 100 perhaps?

A few years ago I bought a film scanner, mainly to scan xpan transparencies, but I also went through all my fathers slides from the 60's. I have just checked and one of my favourite slides came out at 94meg.

As an aside, running a medium format negative through it at high resolution gave a file of over 500meg
