Door latch problems

I had a friend get out of the GTR and instead of holding the door as it closed, he let it just drop and it hit really hard. The result was that I couldn't open the door. After reaching in the internal opening, and manually trying to open the door, and switching the lock on and off, it just wouldn't open with the internal lever, the external button or the lever on the latch itself. After loosening the stud in the door, I had to pull the door open. I haven't had time to figure out why it stuck in the closed position, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had or heard of this happening?

Not come across that one and at this point can't think what could be causing it apart from the impact causing the latch part of the lock to throw further into the lock body and into areas it has never been and has just jammed. I take it the latch is still jammed even without the pin in position?
