Hi Guys

I've got a new R1 on order in black should be getting it within the next week or two. I cannot decide or carbon or titanium Akrapovic's, thinking the carbon would match the bike but the titanium would show up nice against the black, your thoughts:

Thanks

I'd say Titanium, just to get some contrast with all that black!

Bottom line is - take your machine to the shop, and get some friendly bod to hold each near the bike while you step back and make up your own mind!!! smile

ETA 3 points

  • R1's look fantastic in black!
  • I bet these next two weeks take an eternity to pass...
  • Enjoy!!

Sorry to hi-jack the topic, I'm getting an Akrapovic (spelling WTH!) for my CBR 600 RR. I'm going for carbon but I'm just getting the tail pipe. Any one done similar and does it sound any good?

I feel qualified to post on this thread. Firstly, I also have a new black R1 smile Secondly, I help out at Phase One Endurance who run R1s and are sponsored by Akrapovic. smilesmile

I understand people going for the carbon but Phase One use the Ti on all the race bikes. They are incredibly light and beautifully made. The Ti pipes look gorgeous after they have heated up and the down pipes turn a wonderful shade of blue. My vote is for the Ti, it is so much more classy now that so many others have carbon pipes. However, I'd suggest that you also get the Akrapovic carbon heat shields etc as they look fantastic, they are nothing like the cheap carbon bits from other suppliers.

I've got option of fitting the full race Ti system to my bike and this should save a few kilos over the standard system.

First rule of motorcycling;

Despite the millions of yen Mr Honda/Suzuki/Kawasaki/Yamaha spent developing your bike, YOU can make it so much better by throwing more money at it yourself.

Noisy exhausts that mess up your fuelling, anodised tat bolts to make it look like a twelve year olds jewelery box, superlight levers and pegs to make up for that McDonalds, "special" paint jobs to make it look like its been crashed and repaired on the cheap and carbon look stickers to... erm, look like something thats meant to look like carbon... wink

If you want a different bike, buy a different bike.
If you want to build one yourself, do it like Britten.
