Anyone know this car?
Discussion
Hi As my Cerbera is away for a rebuild I was thinking of buying an "S" for the summer and was thinking of travelling to view this one.

Hi Tom,
so your cerb is in for a rebuilt, im very sorry to hear this
, do you know what went wrong? mine also had a rebuilt after 4k, it turns out the timing chain went, something i should have checked after i bought the car.
I owned an S before the cerb, and its a great car, excellent choise
! as they are so simple and cheap to fix i would base my decision on which to buy on chassis condition. This is much easier to check on the S than later tvrs.
Check thoroughly the front outrigers especially, behind the tubes where the outrigger welds are, and also where the front holding plates weld to the outriggers. Use a long screwdriver to poke those areas.
I dont know the car you mention and it does look clean but i would also consider the S1.5 or S2, as they have better trailing arm design so beter handling, less squating, and they are also quicker and more tunable, the 2.9 engine is a better option to the 2.8, i think the diff on them is also bigger.
btw if you dont remember we got our cerbs at the same time from the same place

How is that black 4.5? I remember you needing to change the clutch in Greece, what a shame you also needed a rebuild

The good thing about it I guess is the fact that you will have a much better more sorted car afterwards

I think the oil pressure relief spring gave up the ghost on mine and subsequently I have snapped the crank in 2 places
I am considering buying an S to give me my TVR fix for the summer as I don't know when the Cerbera is coming back yet. Thanks for all the info on the S I shall bear it in mind should I decide to go and look at it.

Hi Tom, thats true, the car is now absolutely fine, the rebuilt cost me 3k as only the valves needed replacing, Yours sounds more expensive
let me know how you get on with the S, there seem to be a few around, so take your time, if you see anything in the south that you fancy let me know, i may be able to have a look at it for you (actually id love to take one for a drive again
)

Or alternativly, mine is on Ebay and is a lot cheaper.....
Have noticed your one but I want one that doesn't require any work doing to it (have the Cerbera getting fixed just now and I want to just jump into something with no work required) although if all you need to do to your one is distributor, plugs and leads why don't you do it, get the car running and I would be interested
