Phil,

You are a class act...do you know that?

A few questions:

1) What was the Gemballa like in the flesh - not sure if I like it or hate it ? (It's either a great stand alone design or a total affront to the original pure design!)

2) what colour was it? Looks "Pure Orange" - or was it "Blut" Orange?

3) Who owns it - UK guy - or German (judging by the plate)

Yeah.....you really are a top bloke....

..........oh....and can I maybe get the number of the blond?.......er......would like to see if she will pose in my Lambo for me......

Cheers Darren. smile

1) It was a beautiful thing to behold, and sounded awesome. I liked it. smile
2) I don't know enough about Porsche colours to tell - it was seriously orange, more orange than Lamborghini Arancio Atlas, and brighter than the orange on 997 GT3RS's. Any help?
3) Owned by a German guy, "Prinz Albert" - a real character! (That's him in the orange fleece.)

It was interesting to play with it on track. I've often read the CGT is tricky on the limit (is it??) and it struck me the Gemballa mods made it trickier - several times I saw it out of shape exiting corners behind me (I suspect Prinz may have overdone the donuts and skinned the rear tyres.... wink ). It had more grunt on the straights but not THAT much more that it could escape on Donington's short straights. Its brakes were stupendous ( :envy: ) but the Diablo had a traction/grip advantage (flat through Hollywood, small confidence dab for Craners left; flat through the gears round the Schwantz Curve) and despite his later braking, I'd be on his tailpipes at the apices. All in all, it made what looked like an open-and-shut case more evenly matched than you'd think - kind of brakes vs traction. Whatever, one of the most exciting cars to "compare with" I've ever come across on a track day.

Tess should be at the Scottish Motor Show in May - fancy bringing up your CGT or Murciélago for a bit of track action in front of a crowd? The event was ace last year - learned to hang the tail out on the Diablo there last year:

Thanks Phil.

From your description I think it's possibly Arancio Ishatar?

I think you are being incredibly modest with regard to your driving skills (and I have heard of this guy - his driving has been described as "unconventional&quotwink - the fact that you could tussle with this car at all - says everything.

A standard CGT is SO much faster than a Murcie or 6.0 it's not even funny - it's the lack of lard rather than the extra power. The Gemballa kit is meant to pump up power to circa 680 bhp - so it would be faster again.

I think if YOU'D been driving the Gemballa no one else would see which way you went!

You're very kind!

Prinz certainly wasn't shy of the loud pedal but I don't think he'd had much/any experience of Donington (an advantage I had). The big disadvantage I had was the brake pedal had gone and needed pumping for every corner.

The protesting tyres and stabbing the gas you can hear in the passing video is chucking the Diablo in and jumping off the gas to curb the understeer on the rise, unsettling the rear, to hook the car round for a tighter line and exit inside the Mirage. The revs are near the top of 2nd gear so it's 80mph upwards I guess.

I think I'd like a go in a CGT some time. Have you had yours on a track yet?

Oh.... slow on the uptake... just seen your teaser thread! You've got an [OBVIOUS I suppose....] orange CGT! smokin

Bet it will be the nuts round Spa where you can really stretch its legs. Super/hypercars monster English circuits, got to head to Europe for a proper exercise. The Diablo was good at Spa last year but was let down by the brakes' stamina. It's so frustrating, the thing's got prodigious grip and plenty of beans but I can feel whole seconds ebbing away while I bugger about with the middle pedal. I WILL make the bastid things work, it's an ongoing project....!!!!

Phil, who organised that track day please?

I'm hoping to start doing a few but unsure which are best as an overall package.

And yours is still the best looking Diablo I think I have ever seen ... I pray to God that I have enough money when you come to sell ... keep it for a few years yet eh? ... please smile
