Just had my new quote from DIRECT LINE £850.00 thought this is a lot this time so done a TESCO COMPARE search, got a quote from PRIVILEGE for £375.00
for the same car with the same cover, when i printed off the quote i noticed at the bottom of the page that is is underwritten by DIRECT LINE.

Got my house & contents insurance renewal last week with More Than £316, told me I'd got a quote from Saga (didn't tell them it was £320) but in 2 mins they re-quoted me £210.... Over a £100 saving for just saying I'd rung someone else.... Mad !!!!!

I'm worried that the limit set on that is 3000

Even my insurance quotes haven't been that high!

I'm sure insurance companies must work on the principal that many people will not bother searching for a better deal and just let the direct debits continue!

My cerb renewel was £750 from Endsleigh, it's now £375 with A-plan.

It is very annoying that you often get a better price if you are moving to a new insurer. I had insurance for the tintop with More Than and the renewal quote was much higher (+25% ish) than the previous (first)year. As the renewal was late in coming (another trick to try and get us hustled into renewing quickly?) I'd already been to their site and put in the details again and got a price which was about the same as the previous year and saved the quote. When I got the renewal I called the 0800 number to ask why the prices were different but they wouldn't match the online renewal price; when I said I would take out a new policy with them at the online price they asked if I'd saved the quote so not sure if they had some tricks in mind but I did this a couple of times before moving elsewhere even filling in the current insurer box as them so there is a very clear message here for us all!!

Have you tried Hagerty?

I'm sure everyone's heard of them by now, but I really was amazed at their quote. At my age (25) anything of any interest is usually into quadroople figures, but their premium for my S3 is little more than a couple of decent nights out.

I was a bit suprised today to find out that ALLIANZ CORNHILL with not even quote for Supercharged Chim, so thats Mannings and Hagertys ruled out. Has anyone had a reasonable quote for a Supercharged V8????

The variety of quotes in the market is unbelievable. I have just renewed with Adrian Flux who were excellent in matching, and then bettering, other internet quotes I found this week. This was in response to a direct challenge from them that they would do this if I could find better and they lived up to their word.

V strange that I got a quote from A Plan this year of £1,500, when last year they offered £800 for the same car, same address, no changes in the last 12 months????? Found Competition Car Insurance excellent as well for quoting a competitive rate if track days were wanted (£1,200 BUT including 4 full track days).

This is one of the reasons i did not go down the supercharged route with my 400. Stuck a modded 500 in instead. Would be interesting to know how insurers see the supercharged cars now that there is an official upgrade installation specifically designed for the car.

That's how business runs these days.

'Customers' are mugs to be ripped off.

Understand that and you'll stop lining other greedy so and so's pockets.

Most important lesson with insurance is NEVER renew. Most insurers will give a new customer a good deal but only as they reckon there is a good chance of raping them for subsequent years when they can't be arsed to shop around. Maybe there are exceptions to my golden rule but I have yet to see a "renewal" price that was anything approaching reasonable. Seems to apply equally to car and home insurance. My missus was dutifully renewing our house insurance with Churchill for 6 years till I spotted the £600 renewal notice. Got the guy nextdoor to get a quote from them on the same terms and it was £288. They are now officially dumped..

Have been with Footman James for over 10 years and check their prices every year and they always give a good deal. It even goes down some years!

Up until recently I would have agreed with you 100%, however for the past 4 years Admiral have come out far cheaper (at least 50-60% cheaper) than any competetive quote, year on year. Im consistently amazed.

ETA: Having said that I be they try and bum-rape me this year at renewal time.
