Radiator hose

Hi all,

Im need to replace the large swirlpot to engine hose, the one that gets close to the alternator belt - I ordered the V'hall number and one end was much larger than the other (motoquip) they didnt reconise the RH 1888 number, it is the hose number 5 in the fantastic post by hydweerden.

S28K10026 Top Radiator hose (2.9 Only) 160L*90*38id 90 deg "L" with a kink RH1888 or OE P/N 9016708 V'hall.

Will QH 1888 fit ? or any other places I could try.

Hi Sean

I got an RH1888 from a local factor recently, so they are available... bought a RH1702 at the same time - total cost for both was £13...

An alternative is a silicon replacement from ACT (actproducts.co.uk)

They are expensive...£25 but silicon so they should last, and an added bonus is you can get them in lots of different colours!

The latest is that I have no news from Big Al to make it a FAQ. I also sent him an e-mail but no reply. So if anyone else can make it a FAQ ????

The useful links could be a last resort..

For what it is worth....both RH1888 and RH1702 are listed as obsolete by QH.

You are looking for what is on the shelf, as old stock.

QH are no longer making hoses; I asked them for a local hose stockist some months ago and that was their reply, so if you want a QH hose get it while there are stocks about.

Maybe so but I asked and I got them... and just a couple of weeks ago too.

see photos (above) - they have the QH labels on them...

within reason, I could ask them to get more if anyone wants one...?

It would be worth asking the question, price and availability, for others. I had no luck today, as I know that the top hose fitted to the S was also fitted to the earlier M series, and was looking to buy one to see if it was correct.

Hi - I tried RH 1888 (QH part) at 3 different motor factors - discontinued.

I am going to an exhaust factory friday and they have standard 90 deg bends 38mm dia that they maybe able to reform then put 2 striaght pieces on either end.

However your kind offer of availability would save alot of hassle.

I've been away from the site for a while.My, there's been a few posts!
I was struck by the official message that I had to agree to before posting this..
No voyeuristic material to be posted. I don't know how can we get away with looking at each others hoses!
Anyway, I digress.
Tomorrow I will be popping into the "local" motor factor that Kev frequents. I need a RH1888 for myself and I'll have a word to see how many they have.
I'll report back and would be happy post out if required.

BTW many thanks to TVRgit for the tip on starting engine and idling 'till fan fan stops after reconnecting battery. This has helped me no end and am flying now!

QH have indeed stopped making hoses but there are other possible suppliers. I will ask my factor friend if the QH references can be related to other manufacturers (e.g. Gates) and come back to the forum. I am currently sorting hoses for my own car so it is of current interest to me anyway. (Mine is however a 2.8 and there are significant differences to the hoses needed on a 2.9.)

I think you might have blown it Tim... I rang them yesterday following the above post and they said they had none on the computer although I reminded them that they had none on there when I first enquired and they later got mine, so he agreed to phone the Gateshead branch to see if they had any (thats where mine was), I'a awaiting his call... maybe you should pop into Bowmans as well ? go for the RH1702 as well as they are also scarce.

This is the site that started me off...the point was, that they are no longer making hoses. It does not help if Gates hoses are in the same position.
