Yet another wiper question-Sorry
Discussion
Have now replaced the wiper park switch and fired the cerb up...... bl**dy wipes are still stuck on intermittant! Im sure this must now be a fault with the ribbon cable that travels down the steering column but this was replaced just before I bought the car (16months ago) as there was a problem with it then. Is it common for them to go this quick again and do most of you carry these as spares?
Im building a car right now based on an old a series manta, and I've had to do all the electrics in it from scratch. I know there's every possibility that the cerbera setup is different, but on the manta, there are three different inputs to the actual wiper motor itself, and depending on which input is being powered, the motor will run at one of three speed levels. If the cerbera setup is similar, then perhaps this could give a clue as to whats up with your wipers. To investigate further, I would recommend having a look at the wiring diagrams to try to see what elements of the system could be at fault.
In my opinion, if you can switch the wipers on at all, then the ribbon cable is probably working fine. Its just a guess, but either the control box isn't allowing you to switch between the different inputs on the wiper motor, or something's gone wrong inside the motor itself. Given the propensity of these little black boxes in our cars to go wrong, I would think its the former.
Best of luck anyway- electrical faults are great fun to diagnose!

Hi,
Sounds more like the wiper control box as that regulates what goes to the wiper motor. the button on the steering wheel only has a positive and negative that sends a signal to the box that switches between the 4 states (off, inter, slow, fast).
A process of elimination is going to have to take place then! cheers Sounds more like the wiper control box as that regulates what goes to the wiper motor. the button on the steering wheel only has a positive and negative that sends a signal to the box that switches between the 4 states (off, inter, slow, fast).
