Hi have a tvr tuscan on an x 2000 engine was rebuilt by tvr 3000 miles ago for last owner. What should the oil pressure be when car is warm, also now and again diagnostic comes up on dash saying code L or f is this a common fault? any way owning one of these is a big learning curve so if any one can help cheers.

Hi,
From my experience, when engine is hot, you should see oil pressures of approx
12psi @1000rpm
24psi @2000rpm
36psi @3000rpm
maxing out at about 45psi a little higher up the rev range

Now clocked 27k miles, no engine problems, not using much oil at all smile

Oil pressure varies depending upon the gauge..........

Code L is to do with erratic speed and usually comes up when you have been sat in traffic. Nothing to worry about in my experience.

My oil pressure is very similar to redspike. Doesn't normally get as low as 12psi and normally sits at 25-35psi at normal cruising speeds. Mines a 2001 x plate with a rebuild at 4000 miles, now on 17,000.

It depends whether you are on the old or new type sender as well.
