Thinking about a Chim
Discussion
Hi,Im new to this forum section.Having owned an S3 in the past,am looking for a weekend car with a bit more.I sold my Westfield last year, but still fancy a V8 with a bit more protection.Hence the Chim.I have a few questions to ask.
1/ Was there any particular year power steering was introduced?
2/ Wife found reaching the pedals on the 'S' tricky,is it dimensionally the same on the Chim and is the clutch heavy too?
3/ Roadtax,what does it cost?
4/ Are the outriggers just as bad for corrosion as the 'S'?
5/ Any particular model to be a better bet.
Would 12k get me a reasonable car? I would love a Griff, but they are commanding more money to get a decent car and didn't know on power steering (wife has short arms and 5ft 1)
Cheers for any replies, they joys of paying the motgage off yesterday has meant a new toy is looming..........

My wife is also 5'1" and we had the seat lifted/tilted slightly using spacers so that we can both drive it BUT.....she is still not 100% happy with it although it is now (just) driveable. Trouble with pedal extenders is that when there's that big a difference in height between the 2 of you then what will be a good position for her will likely be very cramped for you and you'll find yourself forever in the footwell adjusting the extenders!
Cushions don't really work.
Yes - the shorter ladies find the clutch very heavy as they are stretching their legs just to reach it let alone depress it.
IMHO
Don't think about it, just do it. I have had mine for 4 years and have loved it. Just a little shameless plug, she's for sale and has PAS.!

2/ Wife found reaching the pedals on the 'S' tricky,is it dimensionally the same on the Chim and is the clutch heavy too? Clutch is quite heavy
3/ Roadtax, what does it cost? If before 2002, about £190
4/ Are the outriggers just as bad for corrosion as the 'S'? Can be
5/ Any particular model to be a better bet. 450 seems popular

Well,I have passed the wife with it earlier.I think we will have a nose down at Fernhursts and see what they are about. To be honest, she wasn't that inspired with the 'S'other than the sound after the pace and agility of the westfields
S6 Devil.Looks a lovely car,but long story,we vowed never a green car again.....
Hopefully be joining the ranks in the near future.I will keep you informed on where we go.
