Just started on the carpets today and have stripped out pretty much all of the old stuff. I'm a bit confused on removing the bit by the vents in front of the gear stick though. The bit that goes up the transmission tunnel and over the top, under the lower part of the dash simply will not come out. I'm pretty sure I need to lift the lower dash a bit in order to pull this bit out, is it possible to do this? If so, any idea how??

The lower dash can be lifted but be careful not to dislodge the electrics too much. The upper dash top must be taken off. Then there is a screw on the passenger side and a bolt on the drivers side right at the extreme side of the unit. There are also 5 or 6 bolts along the line under the windscreen. Just releasing the two end fastenings may give you enough movement to pull the carpet out though. Good luck.
