I went to Brands Hatch for the evening novice session yesterday. With sessions and a red flag and waiting for my instructor I probably had no more than an hour on the track but thats it, Im utterly hooked now!

I was as nervous as hell before starting but loved every moment of it once I was on the track. So liberating being able to have a proper hoon without fear of being caught speeding or hitting a tree!!

Brands is great fun to drive, a little short but some very interesting corners!

I was surprised at how hard it was to pass other drivers on the relatively short straights even in a car that should "technically" be quicker. I have a feeling there was a problem between the seat and the steering wheel in my car. Someone has a lot to learn! smile

Was cool to check out other people cars too, even with all the fancy machinery there the two guys with MK1 MR2s looked the best, those things really look like they belong on a track! (added to the potential purchase list for the fleet!)

Anyway, Im now looking to book somewhere else, Ideally an all day sessioned or if possible an open pitlane day. I passed the 102db noise test (forgot to ask the exact figure, d'oh) so anything with 102 or above would be cool.

Any suggestions? it would need to be in the south east-ish for a midweek day, could be anywhere as far north as manchester/leeds for a weekend. May or June would be cool too, dont want to wait too long to get out again!

Cheers

Dave

Yeah, bit too soon for the wallet to cope with, I'll have to get paid first (21st of this month!!!)

Snetterton looks like a fun track though, whats Bedford Autodrome like? from what I have read they are VERY strict on noise.

Doubt you'll get on at Bedford with a Tuscan. Silverstone are pretty good on noise - didn't even get tested last time I was there - Goldtrack do a lot of days there. The GP circuit would be great to stretch the Tuscans legs a bit!

I'd concur with that. Silverstone's a great circuit - won't be as intense on the car as Brands Indy (my brakes were smoking when I came off track yesterday), some long straights to give you time to think and plenty of room.
