Right then, ive got the front pulley off and can anyone tell the correct part number for the thn ford trigger wheel, I thinks it part #1078767, however the dealer just said its a disc for £15, could anyone confirm this please. Also where does the gap on the teeth go inrelation to the markings on the pulley ??? Where does the ecu expect to see the gap ??

cheers

Don't think anyone has use the ford one, most are using the trigger wheels one or the john earls one. The JE is just a bolt on kit for the serpentine engines the trigger wheels you have to make the bracket etc. I went the JE kit it's expensive but well made and easy to fit.

You need to check the disc at the back of the pully it has a curved/rolled edge if its got bits (bolt rod) welded in then you may run into problems with engine blancing if not you can take off and mount in its place. I think it's more common on the 5lt to be balanced this way.

HAve you got a serpentine engine.

I would speak to john earls as I read somewhere someone did this, if you send it complete he can workout the balance on yours supply and fit his trigger wheel and rebalance back to original spec so you can just bolt back on.

Yes it a serp, have spoken to JE developments, all he said is he would not touch it !!, because of the external balance issue,! Hmm really not sure what the answer is other than a full bottom end rebuild and internal balance which is not the cards at this stage.

BB has done this mod, and he can talk you through it. Worth dropping him an email as we had to get through this for his Emerald install and he has photographed the disk etc in place and the mod's required to get it set up.

The gap tooth should be at 90 BTDC ideally . . .

It's a Ford trigger wheel, using the JE sensor and bracket as we had both bought the JE full kit, but were unable to use the TW on Simon's.

He therefore used the bracket, which he had to adapt and the Ford TW cos he had it already.

You could fabricate your own bracket of course, but as Si already had his he used it.

You probably won't get a reply until tomorrow night or Sat as he's away on a course . .
