1st dyno run, ECU options?
Discussion
Had the car for a year now and decided its time to see how it's really running. 55,000 miles, standard but with an exhaust that looks like it's made from an old drain pipe.
I'm miles from any of the established Cerbera specialists. Then I found a great rolling road just round the corner. Great chaps, excellent price, experienced and enthusiastic but never worked on a Cerbera before.
It made 367hp and 322lbft. About what I was expecting. It's always run rough and when the tuner saw the fuelling he nearly fell off his seat at how bad it was. He was was keen to take a look at the fuel map but we quickly worked out that it is an eprom that cannot be accesses via the cable connection. He seemed confident that a remap on the engine configuration would have worked wonders for torque and smoothness.
My questions are:
1) Does anyone want to see the graphs?
2) Can the standard MBE be fitteded with an eeprom and mapped in situ?
3) If not, can the MBE be upgraded to a later programmable version?
4) If not, what are my options?
367bhp seems like a reasonable start point but without the option to remap locally, at the right price, I think I'm going to struggle to make the magic 400bhp barrier and the some.
Any advice most appreciated.

If you want remappable ecu then the ecu of choice on the cerb is the emerald, ive fitted quite a few now and in a recent discussion with karl at emerald i found out that as they'd done a couple more themselves now every mbe function is accounted for in the latest emerald K3 versions .. previously the aircon needed a circuit mod to work but now everything is plug and play so that's by far your easiest option.
There are only a handful of people that can open up and map the Cerb MBE. Where you go depends on where you are in the country tbh. Ones that spring to mind are Jools (TCS) upt north, TVR Power in the middle and Austec down south.
The figures posted so far seem very reasonable for an unmapped car and may bode well. However you would need to verify those figures at your selected rolling road pre mapping to judge any gains post mapping don't compare figures from one RR to another.
On the other hand if those figures are for a 4.2 then you are already top draw and I wouldn't bother

It is a 4.5.
In reality, I guess I need a smoother torque graph before more power. Given limited funds, which would be the best sequence. I was planning a: remappable ECU, Silverstone exhaust and short induction.
I appreciate the short induction comes with a remap but what happens if I then go for the Silverstone exhaust.

Yes, the emerald is a straight plug in and go with connector included. Even comes with a runnable (actually very good) default map. With the shortened induction it took mine over the 400 mark after a short rolling road session. Also has map switching so you can have it quiet as a mouse (OK, a loud mouse) on the road and lobbing flames on demand by selecting another map for track/showing off. It has good idle control and you can tweak stuff on it very easily with a nice windows program. If you want to go daft later you add traction control, flat shifting and all kinds of mad stuff. I can also drop the rev limiter when my missus borrows it so she cant bugger the car up when she misses a gear and have a map for 95 ron petrol for when the good stuff isn't available.

Now I've found this great rolling road and team just round the corner I plan to use them for assessing all the mods so the tests should provide a good comparison. Is the Emerald a real plug and play, including the connector etc?
JohnIf your in the South East is not Austec at Crawley close by?
I was hoping to get my 4.5 down there to sort the low speed fueling as soon as I get some time!
I currently have a de-cat sports exhaust and the pop and bangs are a bit too much for me.
It is also so loud I going to need ear plugs for the Le Mans trip!
By the way - Trackcar offer a sort of 1st level chip upgrade for the standard ECU which I'm also thinking about, as I've done this sort of change before.
