Sigmund Freud would have a field day trying to work out what the difference is. And all those question marks - ooooh!

Im sure Sigmund Freud would have had the intelligence to work out that Wales and England were offering two very different roles. One of the roles suited him and one did not. Wales gave him the international recognition he needs to get the Lions job, especally as Wales are going to SA. Wales also offered him the chance to remain as head coach at Wasps, something Eng did not offer.
Besides if Edwards gave Gatland and Wales his word after the 6 Nations, then its a non story.

so have your sensationalist thread title, i (and i guess Sigmund) like to deal in facts.

I reckon Sigmund would have had more of a field day trying to work out your comments based on info you have been spoon fed. Ha Ha

FFS ladies will you pair quit bhing!

Stimmers you have been intimating that Edwards could be tempted by England for a while now and the fact he's turned England down sticks in your craw.

Apparently he met with Jonno this week but clearly the role offered didn't suit him. More fool England I say. He's shown perfectly well that he can combine the two roles.

He's signed up for 3 more years now which is great news for Welsh rugby. Well done Shaun, you're a very smart boyo indeed!

Sorry for that Hornet. But my post was clear and concise. Edwards turned down England followed by a link of the breaking news many of us have been waiting for.

And from the BBC...... BBC Sport understands that Edwards met Martin Johnson, who is set to become England's manager, on Wednesday, but turned down an England coaching role.

Obviously there is more to this than meets the eye but the average Welshman in the street sees this as a show of loyalty to His Welsh (and Wasps) duties. Hence the title "Good on you Shaun Edwards."

You decide the title of your threads by what the average mis-informed man in the street thinks - explains a hell of a lot

Can you read ?

I said Edwards decided on the role that suited him best, not the country. He didn't turn down England, he turned down a ROLE he didn't want WITHIN the England set up. The title of this thread is foolish, wrong and misleading - as the OP has already pointed out by saying its the average man in the streets opinion.

I'll say it again for the cheap seats. Edwards didn't want to leave Wasps. With the Eng role, he would have had to, with the Welsh role he didn't have to. Suprise suprise Shaun Edwards signs a new 3 year deal the day after he signs a 3 year deal with Wales. Both contracts end within a day of each other - What a shocker.

I know Wales have chosen to groom The All Blacks coach before, but this is a first for Grooming the next potential England coach.

Thanks

ps - Shaun Edwards isn't the only top class English defence coach, the French have been grooming one for us for years

Don’t blame him for not signing for England.

The whole England set up is a mess. Like or loath Ashton Keep him or sack him. This rolling contract is rubbish most other countries are signing till after next world cup and it makes sense to. We need to have the management team set to get some direction for the next world cup or we will go into the next world cup the way we went into the last.

The Johnson situation is the same bring him and tell all of us want his actual role be and get on with in.

A good clear out would do the English game a world of good Francis baron and Rob Andrew good start.

Us "average people" (who just so happen to be by definition, most people) obviously do not have the superior intellect deserving of your wisdom. Now that explains a hell of a lot!

Well this is what Edwards himself has to say............

Edwards: Why I’ve signed for Wales
Apr 11 2008 by Simon Roberts, Western Mail

SHAUN EDWARDS last night revealed why he had turned down England, after committing his future to Wales until the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand.

Wales’ Grand Slam defence coach finally ended the long-running contract saga and signed a three-year-deal to be Warren Gatland’s right-hand man.

Edwards, the Welsh Rugby Union and his club, London Wasps, had been in negotiations since the end of the Six Nations campaign.

He had spoken to new England supremo Martin Johnson on Wednesday, but turned that down to stay with Wales.

“The contact with England happened very late,” Edwards told the Western Mail. “I explained that to Martin and I had already give my word to Warren. A handshake is as good as a contract between me and Gats. He is a great friend and work colleague and I’d given my word to him. I wasn’t going to go back on that.........

Ooooh look the Author has opened with he had turned down England!! Shame on you Simon Roberts of the Western Mail. You obviously know nothing about rugby and must be mis-informed.

http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/rugbynation/rugby-n...

And this is what many of your average Welsh rugby fans have to say. Mis-informed of course.

Your such a dumb wr aren't you.

The 'average man in the street' wouldn't have the inclination to bother finding out the facts or the truth and only base their opinion on what the media say.

Much like you

After the above statement from Edwards can someone please tell me exactly what there was to turn down? He agreed to sign for Wales, he knew he was going to sign for Wales before Eng even approached him. If you ask me, to turn someone or something down, in the context you have put in the title of this thread, surely thee must be at least a 0.1% chance that he was considering it. He has already said he wouldn't even have considered any role within England after given Gats his word. So how is that turning Eng down when it wasn't even an option for him.

The mind boggles

Who are the ENGLISH team you support playing in the football this weekend Mr WELSHY?
Ever seen a therapist about your addiction to band wagon jumping ?

Why would you want to work with England?

1) Your English
2) Your one of the biggest rugby Nations in the World
3) Your THE most succesful team outside of the NH
4) There is massive potential
5) There are alot of young and seriously talented players coming through
6) These players should be peaking around WC 2011
7) You get paid more than any other Coach in the world
8) You have more players to choose from than any other nation on earth
9) You have more money available than any other nation on earth
10) Gatland and Edwards took charge of Wasps when they were at the bottom of the Prem. They saw potential in th players and wanted the challenge, someone, (Johnson) could see the same in Eng.
