New tyres rubbing...
Discussion
I've just fitted my new rims and tyres and they now rub a little on the inner wheelarch.
They're standard RL 17", but have Dunlop m'sport tyres so they are more, square, in profile than a standard tyre.
Can somone tell me is the wheelarch lip solid fibreglass, if so is it okay for me to 'shave' it back to allow more clearance?
Thanks
Tim

shave it back, shouldnt be a problem...
think of the weight saving!
Oh and change your handicap...
Hi Ben,
think of the weight saving!
Oh and change your handicap...

I'm on List 1B tyres now so I've already changed my algorythm.

Was said in jest, these things make little difference to us, Dads out to beat himself only at present... until the car is retired from commuting stuff and made more focused, its unlikely we'll take things too seriously, its all about the enjoyment. TT Tim said:

Will a minor canber change help, they didn't rub on my one? JonnyThey're standard RL 17", but have Dunlop m'sport tyres so they are more, square, in profile than a standard tyre.

Not sure tbh, just paid a to get the suspension set up, but now wondeing if I may need to have it reset to match these rims.

I don't know what size tyres you were running, these aren't the rims I got from you btw.
The rears are rubbing very slightly, but only on one side, interesting though after a short thrash there's heat in the inner edge of the rear tyre but very little on the outer edge. Not sure that there's much movement on rear camber if the heat presentlooks like it may need more toe in rather than less. Hmmmm.
Jes runs 235 all round, guess I need to shoot him an email.

Did you have your car corner weighted prior to the setup?
No, not yet Julian, there's a chap near Ash who's building a corner weight set up. I was going to have a word with him.
Seriously, I didn't know the effect the slightly larger and therefore heavier tyres/rims would have on the set-up so haven't bothered until it's all built as I intend to race it. Inc' extinguishers, Accusump etc.

Reason I ask is that if the corner weighting is wrong, and you shorten or lengthen any of your shocks, then the alignment is properly snaffooed and you will start from scratch on that again.
This weekend is Detling kit car show so Cobra gets its outing away looking for bits bobs and cheap tools
.
But the corner weighting setup is top of the list of things to do after. I was going to use detling to try and find some metal plates to use as ramps onto the scales.

I'm very interested to see how you get on,This weekend is Detling kit car show so Cobra gets its outing away looking for bits bobs and cheap tools

I have a cunning plan to build my own setup.
I need to build some ramps for the bed of my trailer to allow me to open the door once the car is loaded, I had the idea of fitting removable sections in it, that way I could inset the scales, tied in with corner-jacks I could level the whole setup.
Maybe a pipe dream, but an idea none the less.
