Motul racing fully sint 15/60
Discussion
Motul 300V 15/50 Competition is one o fonly a handful of oils which is an Ester based blend.
I have used it, although I felt I got better oil pressure with Silkolene Pro R15/50.
On the other hand a great with a big bad wedge swears by the motul oil, as advised by Mr Hardacastle in his book on the RV8.
Chatting to Pace Products a lot of the endurance race teams are using the Motul and swear by it.
I haven't heard of anyone using the 15/60 you describe, so can't express an opinion on that one.

I use Miller 15/60 oil in my Supercharged 4.5 litre, this oil spec being developed specificall for (Supercharged/Turbo)forced induction engines where you need improved oil adhesion high up the bores where it is hottest. This helps prevent bore glazing sometimes associated with thinner oils. This oil would be great for engines with bore wear, but probably a bit heavy for standard engines running lower temperatures as cold start might be affected. If you visit the Miller oil web site it gives good information on their range of oils and suitability for the RV8 engines. Castle Race engines recommend Miller 20/50 for their builds including race engines. Although 20/50 Millers say this has similar characteristics to 15/50. Worth a look. I am pleased with the 15/60 as it has resolved my problem with some Mobil 1 oils where the cam lifters seemed to stick occasionaly.

Would the Castrol Edge 10/60 fully sint oil (currently used on the new M3 V8)be any good for an old stile engine like the griffith?
I have been using that since i bought the Griff, well this year the new Edge, before that 10W60 RS. Many trackdays and Italian holidays later it's still going strong. I change the oil and filter every year, no matter how many km's we did. Oil pressure is always good, even with oil temps of more than 140 celcius (sustained fast driving German autobahn in the summer). tvr4ever said:

What do you think of Motul fully sint oil grade 15/60? any of you have used it? Would it help to elevate oil pressure a bit? I've been using Mobil 1 5/50 but i think it's too thin at high temp for this kind of engines, am i right?
I've been having some low oil pressure lately...
I had similar issues with Mobil 1 when tracking and sprinting and used to get a bit of oil surge in the twisties, oil was like p

s when hot! Changed to Mobil 1 Motorsport (15/40W I think) and have no problems whatsoever now. Always excellent oil pressure all year round regardless of how hot the ambient is.
