Decided to go for a run at 2pm, thought I would pop to Halfords, to try to get some oils.Engine/steering, and coolant, anyway they only had the engine oil I needed.
The lad who worked there looked at the paper I had written it on, and said they may have other coolant, what colour is my coolant!! So off we went outside for him to take a look!!.
Meanwhile I had bought a new tyre for one of rugrats bikes, and new pump, after pressing boot opener about 10 times,it finally opened so placed tyre etc in boot.
Then made a complete cock up of lifting bonnet, and was then asked if the car was mine!!(how very dare you!!) I pointed out the coolant cap, to which he said was too hot to open, and could I wait for half an hour,the answer was no so I left with nothing (as Anne Robinson says).
Then on route to pick up a rugrat, I got in a line of traffic that seemed to be practicing for funeral work, double white lines, and then it started raining, anyway before you go to sleep, I came to a roundabout I indicated to turn left, and the car just stopped!.
The battery light was on,I turned off ignition, started the car again, splutter splutter.
what a place to bloody conk out!!I was panicking by now, had few sound their horns, which REALLY helped, got out to try to push It out of the way, a nice fella stopped and asked if I needed a hand to move It, I tried once more, and she started,( the guy actually asked me what car it was ).
Now, what do you lot think was the matter, it did it again a bit further up the road at traffic lights, its sort of peed me off a bit,
Phew..Thought i was going to read something much worse. Err, cant help you much on the fault. not had anything similar but i'm sure someone more helpfull will be along soon. Trying to imagine the lad at halfords down the pub tonight..'Hey youll never guess what car some bird turned up in today'

You may have been in the wrong gear, i usually use trainers and a pair of jeans. Selecting high heels or a tight/short skirt could cause similar problems.......just holding the thought for a moment......
OK, yes but you wouldve noticed the engine chugging and stuttering before stopping. keep an eye on the rev counter, as long as running 1500 or more should be fine. If in doubt keep a gear lower than norm and see if it runs smoother.

Someone will probably say I'm wrong, but I just top the coolant with tap water, I don't think I'll dilute it that much. As for Brake fluid I've not needed to top up and I'd expect your service to take care of it. Oil yes, you will need but I always make sure the garage that did the service give me enough for topping up, so I ensure I use the same oil that they had used...they only ever manage to put 8 litres in max and usually charge for more.
As for your problem starting, mine can be a pig to start if it doesn't catch on the first attempt, take it back to the dealer is your first course of action.
Sometime ago you said the manual said it was Rosso, TVR had a lot of trouble with Rosso fading to a Pink, I just wondered if yours has been re-sprayed Red Glow.... just a thought
As for lifting the bonnet, I always carry a cable tie to raise the corners before popping the centre spike. Just seems more gently than just pulling up the corners.

I have had the same problem. The issue is that the Speed Six engine isn't totally water proof in the rain. You will find that water will go up and then down the back of the bonnet and can potentially drip onto the coil and other bits which aren't well protected. When this evaporates the car will be fine again unless corrosion or condensation has formed. Best take it to your mechanic and tell them that you were caught in rain and it affected the electrics - they'll know what to look for if any perm damage has happened.
Have you had the main bonnet off to see if the top of the engine is sealed and looked after? Did you get any error messages on the dash because a wet sensor could be to blame.
Any how, it probably isn't anything serious (touch wood) but it's all about peace of mind so get it checked or at least call a good TVR mech for them to reassuringly say "Don't worry, they are partial to a little bit of rain interference, I just cover my engine in goose fat before a storm"

Thanks very much Lads for getting back, dont know where I would be without you lot, as my other half is rubbish with cars, and get this, he can't drive!!! never passed his test.anyway moving swiftly on.

so maybe that didnt help, as the petrol was not the same as the petrol I had in before, dont laugh, I know I sound dizzy, Im not Honest, well I am a bit, but I can drive great, and was told at the tender age of 12 that I was a natural!! NO I wasn't TWOCing, I learnt to drive on my Grandads farm, my cousins made a sort of track, straw bails etc, we used to throw the land rovers all over, and then my uncle Pete, acquired an old morris minor, so that was the next victim.
Anyway I Digress, so do I have to use this CARLUBE/CARPLAN stuff, as Im finding it difficult to get hold of, and dont really fancy a trip to Harrogate, A, because its MILES, B, I spend too much.

Sounds like it could be fuel starvation to me....the gauges are simply not reliable so try to not let it get below 10L if at all possible. Water ingress could be an issue too but I would have thought you would see an error code or two - did you notice an EFI fault at all? As has been said, when you have the main bonnet off, check the seal of the spark-plug cover.
Might be worth filling up the tank, popping a bottle of fuel cleaner in and also getting an accumate battery conditioner in case your battery is on its way out.
Just a couple of thoughts, it's never nice to conk out - always happens at the most inconvenient times
holding your nerve whilst all around you are losing their's etc, etc....

A code error that I remember flashed on was something about frost, god knows, but the fuel was low, YEA, YEA, dont let it go that low, but the garage I usually go to, had a sign up, saying account holders only, (its a small garage).

Hi J, The petrol was dangerously low, and after I filled her up, I drove another 30 miles or more, but the thing that happend was just after I had filled up with fuel, but not had her out today.Have you taken Pixie out again since with a full tank?

Had something similar when I first got my car. Basically it didn't like being out in the wet.
After being charged for an unnecessary tune up by a main dealer, and taking it back after it rained the next time, they sealed where the plugs are and it's never happened since (4 years now)
I believe it was rain water shorting out the plugs.

Just remember to fill it up, but not brim the tank.
Otherwise probably rain getting into the electrics somewhere.

I'd say it's unlikely that you have carlube/carplan oil in your car anyway. TVR used to recommend this as they must have had some deal with them in the past (same thing happened with brand of tyres).Best to ask whichever garage did the last service to see what oil is in there & match it. My last service used Mobil 1 10W/40, which I think is a different thickness to what TVR specified.
