Had a Origin B2 for about four years now , time to update! Anyone seen the new road angel professional connected or the Pogo in the flesh ?

I upgraded to the PogoAlert from my B2 when I changed cars last year. It's pretty much identical to the B2 in terms of functionality, and I think it uses the same database - the only real addition is the colour screen and a running average speed calculation in SPECS zones. It's a bit different to wire up as well - it now has a built-in GPS aerial (so you may need the optional external antenna depending on where you install), and it needs a small transformer in the power line as it only requires 5 volts. It also now has USB2 built-in for updates, which is a welcome improvement. Still no updater software for Macs, though.

I'm generally happy with mine, although the build quality problems I experienced with the B2 appear to have carried over to the new model. I went through 3 B2's (all warranty replacements when the speakers failed) and I'm currently on my second PogoAlert - the first one expired in a small cloud of smoke after having been plugged in for only 5 minutes. That said, Origin were always quick and eager to resolve the issues, and were easy to deal with.

My RoadPilot is nice and small, but the in-car holder failed after 18 months and it cost £ 160.00 to replace!

I was offered an upgrade to the pogo. I am holding off because unlike the B2, you cant integrate the laser diffuser into the unit. I dont think the B2 is outdated, still an awesome bit of kit and works well.

Yeah the b2 has been great but I now have strange things on the screen also the sound has gone and as its four years old and new car coming thort its time to change .The b2 never warned me about laser and I also had a LT400 that I was never sure worked .
The road angel connected has GPRS and updates every 2 mins so is good for mobile camera vans but its £300

Micro Road Pilot was excellent and the smallest I could find - easy to update, fits in a shirt pocket and audible above the loudest exhausts, de-cats and induction kits.

IIRC, the deal was £75 discount if you PX'ed your B2. However, I'm not sure if retailers will honour this; I bought mine direct from Origin.
