New Aston V8 with 420bhp or used Ferrari F430??
Discussion
About to swap an ageing Vanquish S for a newer, more nimble car...this is the current dilemma - any feedback would be welcome -- what would you do?
The new Aston V8 due in August will have a 4.7 litre engine and 420 bhp, as well as DBS dash and sports pack....
or for the same money, a late 05 or 06 F430 in a subtle colour?
F430 = more exciting, better near perfect drive
AMV8 = prettier, less in your face, should go better too
As the car will spend a decent amount of time in London (but not in much traffic) -- which way is best???
Thanks!!!

May be worth posting the same question on the Aston Martin forum...

Personal experience (Grig-silv F430 Glasgow) is of 4 broad groups. 1) gives thumbsups and smiles, 2) grimaces and would like to damage you/the car and 3) enthusiasts who wanna do everything from take phone-pics to talk for hours about ferraris and cars in general. By far the biggest group (90-95%)is 4) no reaction at all. hth. R.

From a practical POV, the nose of my car scrapes on half the speed bumps in N London (and is slowly being destroyed by my driveway). I don't know if the Vantage is a more practical proposition from that perspective. And I'd avoid F1 - I didn't, and it's OK, but you can't avoid crawling up hills and reversing up inclines in London, really, so clutch life will inevitably be shorter. You also end up having to choose between using 2nd at low speed and accept all the clutch slip, or take 1st and have to drive like your gran or end up with a lot of unseemly shunting.

It is.tbh, if you're not keen on attention a Ferrari is not the right choice.
I am not saying people buy them FOR the attention, but it cannot be helped.
Spraying it an "unfavourable" colour will make little difference except to mask some of the reasons you buy one in the first place. So a bit self defeating.
Even mild coloured 550s etc get a lot of attention.
The sort of attention you get in Astons is different. Less "in your face" (like the car).
As mentioned elsewhere, you really need to decide what you want out of the car. They are very different animals.
