Nice!

So there's a reason why the model names seem to be switching to "LP560-4" format then? Perhaps there'll be a RWD version of the Gallardo (LP560-2?) at some point, too?

So they're harking back to their heritage, by using the SV name and fitting a silly, big wing.

ooo sounds good.... one ? for you modern super car lovers ditching the front diff carbon doors is ok to save weight but your multimedia system is to far you'll never find your way from kings road to park lane so go for the big wing at least you can open your map out! ha ha

I don't think it's too big, just too high off the back

nononononononono!

The wing NEEDS to be that high so that the support struts obstruct rearward vision like the engine cover of a Countach QV or an Anniversary does!

123quackers is just worried that people will be seen using a Murciélago SV wing as a lunch table as you'd certainly never see a Countach wing being used like that, really you wouldn't, oh no, never, not never, no.

btw, the 'original' Lamborghini car badged 'SV' was, of course, the last version of the Miura... not that Autocar's writer would have referred to that when his obviously nonsensical 'skewed' history point needed to be made!

What has deleting the fwd bit of the powertrain got to do with it? The Miura was never a 4wd vehicle at all and yet the 'SV' badge was used to signal 'Sporta' AND 'Veloce' as it was with the Diablo SV and may be here, at least if the car is ever actually called 'SV', especially after all this chattering about it!

Hope they put a massive SV logo on the side like on the Diablo

The Murci looks a lot better without it. The Diablo had such an expansive rear end that was looked lower to the ground, whereas IMO the Murci is more rounded and doesn't really suit a rear wing.

My two pence anyway, and I certainly don't hate the large spoiler!

Doug, you've set me off thinking about letter shapes to suit the Murciélago SV! Perhaps its just me, but the original Diablo SV shaped 'SV' letters kind-of suited the car, which is why so many people still prefer their SV to be so decorated...

The Murciélago is a little less rounded and swoopy than the Diablo overall, perhaps some slightly more hard-edged characters would work or perhaps I should just turn my designer head off this evening?!?

Would anybody want a repeat of the big letter option in 2008? Why should Automobili Lamborghini care? Drivers would buy such an emblazoned car because it's a Lamborghini and at least learn to live with the graphic additions...

Right, that's it - I only use words like 'emblazoned' when I really need a glass of something brewed, so: g'night y'all!

A RWD Murcielago is great news, so long as it doesnt look like the car in the photo.

What's next? A Murci owners racing series?

The wing seems to come from the Exige parts bin but not quite sure why they were even near that bin nerd

From the front the wing looks menacing.

They would lose about 50 Kilo's alone if they got rid of the ridiculously heavy back box. It takes 2 to lift it and the Tubi replacement you can lift with 1 hand.

I'll be sad if they get rid of the 4wd on the Murcie SV. It makes the car so much more drivable, especially in the wet. They must have sorted the chassis flexing problem then, because with over 650bhp that engine was causing the chassis problems during the original development of the LP640.
I'd still have one though. I just love the V12's smile

Simonspider the chassis felixing was when they were testing at Nardo, they were running 740hp to see what they could get out the engine without have to made it bigger! 680hp is the limit for that chassis so it makes sense that 640hp on the pl640 to start and if they are not quite ready in 2009 for the all new car they can do a revised car with a bit more horse to keep it fresh and selling.may be thats why the SV is back or it could be they are trying to understand if current murci owners can handle 2wd for may be a future project mmmmmmmmm I wonder who knows!!!!!!!
