Camping in the Exige
Discussion
Hi
We have managed a two week camping trip in France (with a VX220). We took a four man tent, blow-up mattress, double sleeping bag, fold up stools, clothes, cameras etc., etc. That included the missus and all the associated bits and pieces. The missus would never camp in Yorkshire because it is too cold??? Therefore cannot recommend anything around there.
Always good fun turning up in such a small car and pitching up a tent!
Have fun....

Yep not problems, we did a week in the Exige.. Just take soft bags that can be stuffed in.
In terms of camp sites, ive never had a problem...the exige copes fine with speed bumps so shouldnt really be a problem unless the fields boggy or really uneven. Most camp sites tend to have flat-ish grass anyway as sleeping on uneven ground isnt that nice...

The inside of my S1 Elise on the way to the 2007 British GP!

The bag contains two sleeping bags, camp-stove, mattress, cutlery, Pot-Poodles, tins etc. The bag with my clothes was in the boot. The folding trolley was for getting the beer to the track!
My mate was going meeting his girlfriend and his parents in Devon afterwards and I was going back oop north, so he went in his car with his clothes and the beer. I suppose you could do it if you travelled light.
It has been discussed before - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... I like the advice about 14 bottles of wine on the shelf behind the seats!

No problem..
Did another 3-week camping trip around Scandinavia with a mate in his VX/Speedster last year:

No problem. Just pack everything (clothes, food, etc.) in separate plastic bags you can push into the various corners inside the boot.
You can get a lot into the boot as long as you're not trying to get square shapes (eg. suitcases) in there. They waste too much space.
A little creativity (aka. using tiewraps/cable ties, ducttape and plastic bags) can also be used to fit some emergency stuff (eg. small bottle of oil, coolant, tool-roll) under the front clam.
On the early S2 you can actually get quite a bit of stuff in the front as the heater is small and there's a lot of space under the washer bottle (where the battery is on the S1). Just remember to seal it well as it's open to the elements under there..
Bye, Arno.
