Tomorrow i have to a family event and i want to take the cerb. However the road i have to go down has speed bumps, no long way around, i will have to go over them or take another car.

The bumps are the kind that consist of 3 squares set along the width of the road.

My question is, how do i take the speed bumps? Do i go over with a wheel each side and hope i don't clip the font or go over with a wheel on each bump and hope i don't hit the sides?
I will be going on a test run this evening but wanted the advice of those who have encountered this problem before.

As far as i know my car is the normal standard height.

Thanks

Having broke two sumps, line the centre of the car up with the gap between the bumps, if possible. And let the wheels go up the hills, slowly of course so that the shocks can do their stuff smile

There's not much I can't get over, apart from the entrance to an estate up in Walsall that is. Bump looked about 8" high dead centre of the road, but the road slimmed to 7 foot wide, high kurb either side, so I couldn't get a wheel up in the air.

I travel over these square bumps all the time, on standard suspension I used to just miss hitting them with just me in the car, when I had two in I used to just hear a scrape, I think it is best to straggle them, going over them with one wheel is quite harsh, I have now got Protechs on and must be a little higher because it now does not touch them.

Edited to say I don't have a sump so no problem there.

Never have a problem with speed humps. Normally do them at 20+ mph

Mine's like that now as well since I fitted the new springs to it about a year ago.

They raised it just enough to give me adequate clearance.

One wheel on each bump, gap under your sump, slowly.

Then nail it. hehe

Do you have the front spoiler fitted? Many Cerbs are missing them (ripped off).
I used to take them at an angle.

I'm surrounded by them.
One wheel in the gap, one wheel on the hump - never hit them even with three in the car.

It is a metal splitter that runs under the front end. I guess it is 3 foot long? You can see it if you get on your hands and knees.

exactly - agreed! havent cracked a sump myself, but learnt from seeing other peoples mistakes - most people dont seem to understand what you're at, but I just ignore them, and do my own thing.

I get quite antisocial at speedhumps near work and take them dead mid on, except when there are parker cars in the way in which case I drive down the middle of the road and take both humps.
